Sometimes, the cold lighting of the meeting rooms in Milton Keynes would catch just so on the string around Max's finger and he’d do a doubletake at its colour. Under the fluorescents, it looked faded, as if someone had siphoned out some of its vibrancy.
He wished he could photograph it, so that he could compare how it changed day by day. Prove to himself that he wasn’t imagining things. That he really was dying.

Max’s chest felt like it was being compressed by a vice. He closed his eyes for a brief moment, trying to centre himself, but the air in the garage felt thin.
He fought the wave of dizziness, his vision swimming at the edges, “I don’t need my hand held,” Max replied, voice dangerously low.
“Then prove it,” Charles countered, “because right now, you’re just proving everyone who said you were past your prime right.”
The comment was so biting, so casually cutting, that he felt as though he’d been physically struck.
Or, Max joins Ferrari for the 2027 season and Charles is not happy about it.

Instead of escaping Tantiss and reuniting with her family, Omega and Crosshair are shot down on an unknown plant wrought with ice and snow, injured, starving, and with no way of contacting the outside world.

Omega must grapple with her newfound relationship with her wayward brother, thaw out his icy exterior, and decide what she will ignore, what she will hold onto, and what she must sacrifice for survival, suffering the consequences of morality. Crosshair must come to terms with the crippling loss of agency, his continued worth as a human being with the decisions he made, and accept his struggling love for a sister that never gave up on him. Together, the two clones of the long lost Bad Batch must come together to fight the depravity of humanity and their own moral codes to ensure their survival in an unforgiving world wrought with cold and starvation, hunted by an unknown force that shines of an aching familiarity.
Not all is as it seems out here in the ice and snow.

Keenly aware of how much he hated people barging into his room, he rapped his knuckles on the door. “Omega. It’s Crosshair.”
Another loud, very stuffy-sounding sniff. “Come in.”
He let himself into her room. It didn’t look too messy; Omega took more after him than Wrecker in the cleanliness department, thankfully. Her backpack was still propped up against her small desk, covered in jangling pins and ornaments. The small circular window was closed, the curtains pulled so the room was still dark despite the bright morning sunshine. And the patient herself blinked, miserable and bleary, up at Crosshair, her patchwork quilt tugged up under her chin.
“Hi,” she said, stuffy and scratchy.
Crosshair takes care of Omega when she's home sick.
