Ilya shakes his head, tutting. “Not good enough, Hollander, sorry. Want to try again?”
Shane huffs. “Don’t have time, gonna be busy kicking your ass.”
Ilya glances at the warm up timer, realizing belatedly that they actually only have a few more minutes. “Alright, fine. I will be expecting better during the game!”
“Expect whatever you want, Rozanov.” Shane pauses. “Except for winning. You’re not getting that.”
“Ooh, good one! Keep ‘em coming!”

Dmitry glanced up, pausing from where he was unlacing his skates. What the fuck could in the conversation possibly have possibly led to this?
He glanced at Rozanov, who'd been smirking and teasing Wyatt only a second earlier. Now, his mouth was firmly shut. All the rest of the team stared at Rozanov.
Wyatt laughed. "Oh my God, Roz I don't even know what he said but you are so damn whipped!"
"One word from the husband and he shuts up!" Bood crowed.
Chouinard jumped in. "Yeah, what the hell did you say to shut him up that quickly, Hollzy?"
(4 times shane was less boring than people thought. including hickeys, never have i ever, being in the room next door to them at a hotel, and a russian rookie)

“No, Ilya, stay.” The last word came out as a whine.
“Why is he calling you Ilya?” Pike asked.
"Why is he asking you to stay?” Hollander’s mom followed.
Ilya shrugged. “How would I know?”
Hollander lifted his arm out, as if reaching for Ilya. “Because I want him to stay.” It was said in a tone that seemed to say, 'obviously'.
“Shane,” Hollander’s dad started. “Um- what’s going on? I thought we hated Rozanov.” He seemed to realise what he’d said and glanced at Ilya. “Sorry.”
“Is fine.”
"No, I don't hate him. I love him."
Cliff's jaw was firmly hanging open, and he didn't think it was going to move anytime today. He felt as if he'd been punched in the stomach, all the air ripped away from his lungs.
"Am I dreaming?" Cliff muttered to himself.
Pike let out a strained laugh. "I think someone spiked my coffee this morning."
(cliff, ilya, hayden & shane's parents visit shane in hospital after the incident. a very drugged up shane cannot hide his feelings for ilya)

Shane kissed him, gentle at first, then harder, nipping at his bottom lip. He felt the scab give a little, the faint taste of iron, and he jerked back, startled at himself.
Ilya just blinked, a little confused, and then smiled.
“Too rough, no?”
His English got messier when he was tired, vowels thicker, consonants dropped.
“You are always gentle. You can bite if you want.”
Shane shook his head, covering it with a laugh.
“Not tonight. You need to heal.”
Ilya accepted this with a shrug, already halfway to sleep, arm slung heavy over Shane’s waist.
Shane stared at the ceiling, the taste lingering, heat and confusion twisting through him.He didn’t sleep much.
