Summary
One for All. An endless, ocean-like well of pure raw power. Izuku thought he had an ample amount of control over it. Yeah, he could barely use twenty percent, but at least he wasn’t breaking himself apart. He was wrong. One for All was unpredictable, and an unprecedented Quirk.
His dream was empty and black. At first, there had been nothing. For a few seconds, there was nothing but the ground beneath him. And then there were seven.
Seven people standing beside him. Before him were two other people, but the seven beside him stood unmoving. Izuku watched, his eyes wide. One of the two was grabbing the other, a grin playing on their face that didn’t bode well with Izuku. Izuku recognized this man. All for One.
The man at his mercy before him suddenly appeared before him. Reaching. Reaching. Izuku reached back. Their hands connected. All for One stood frozen.
“So...you’re...the ninth?”
But Izuku Midoriya never woke up from this dream. And All for One moved. This wasn't a dream. This was a nightmare.
A nightmare that didn't end.

It’s a simple favor. Descend the stairs into the faculty storage room, retrieve the dated newspapers All Might needed for his lecture, and make his way back up. His teacher had even given him the keys.
What Izuku doesn’t expect among the dozens of shelves is a gnarled, shattered mask nestled tightly in the back of the aisle. A mask with rusting ventilator pipes and a metallic scowl. A mask bearing a familiar face.
He expects it even less when he begins to see that face everywhere he turns. Every time the lights go out.Izuku becomes very, very afraid of the dark.

Izuku's face has been carefully hidden on his desk, the same way it always is when he dreams of career day. Slowly, he sits up. Leaning his head against his arm, he tilts his head so that he can look to the left.
Kacchan is staring at him. His chest heaves like he's run a marathon in a moment. Sweat drips down his arms, shimmering with the oily shine of nitro, as he grips his desk. He looks rattled, but he's got his game face on.
Do you know? He seems to ask silently. Are you with me?
Izuku straightens the rest of the way, trying to carefully balance alertness with the appearance of meekness. He looks Kacchan dead in the eyes and nods.
