Summary
When a single scratch means death, it is paramount you find someone to watch your back.
Unfortunately, survivor Caroline Wolfe has never had this privilege. When the plague began to ravage the world as she knew it, she was left to fend for herself, forcing her into positions she never wished upon anyone.
The plague broke out five years before, killing over 90% of the world's population. It turned those she thought she could trust into mindless, undead, monsters and creatures controlled by survival, not loyalty. Caroline was lucky to have made it out of Ottawa alive, thanks to the help of her childhood in the Yukon, learning how to fight and survive with more traditional weapons.
When she finds herself trapped within the confines of an abandoned apartment complex in what was Caledon, she has to make a choice. Either face the undead alone or help the mysterious, accented, skull faced man she finds within and tether herself to him for the foreseeable future.
What she isn't expecting is to find someone she can lean on and, even, learn to love. The idea of a cure and the promise of answers loom on the horizon, but the question is if she can find it in herself to trust another.
