Anthony J. Crowley would like to have a normal life, thank you very much.
He'd wager he's a decent enough professor, and while he likes his job well enough, he very much regrets giving out his personal number to students back in the Beginning, because it's apparently considered unprofessional to tell them to bugger off if he just received his fifth call before noon on a Sunday. It's a day for rest - even the damn bible says so.
But it's fine, really; he's not even sure why he'd consider anything in his life as Not normal. Especially when he meets Asa Fell, a charming man his age, with a smile so bright it's rivaling the stars. And hell - the man seems equally interested, so this could finally be his chance to settle down and get that peaceful life in a cottage at the South Downs, like he's always wished for. Ever since... forever, really.
And then his hair suddenly turns fiery red one morning.

Perhaps his voice reached him, for Hua Cheng stared at his face for a long time before abruptly wrapping him in a crushing hug.
Seeing that Hua Cheng listened and stopped forcefully pumping spiritual power into him, Xie Lian sighed a breath of relief. However, as he stood in Hua Cheng's embrace, he could sense the energy inside Hua Cheng going berserk.
Not only that, it was as if Hua Cheng's moment of clarity had changed the flow of the other's energy as well. Xie Lian felt worry and the inclination to check, but quickly got distracted.Oh, how he wished he hadn't.

There was no ominous feeling. No waking up with the realization that today would be a bad day, no stirring in his gut that he’d learned to interpret as ‘one of those mornings’. If anything, the day had started out better than usual: Kageyama woke up twenty minutes before his alarm would ring, without any particular sense of fatigue, which would mean he’d get to school earlier and consequently could use more time of the day to play volleyball.
It wasn’t any special day. He wasn’t injured. The team was doing better little by little. He wasn’t alone.
And then it all came crashing down.
