He was loopy. He had lost it.
Or maybe, with his senses warped, with the way he leaned into his touch, the way he was laughing so comfortably, the way he was calling her name… maybe he’d mistaken Spamton for Susie herself.
Or
The Lightners, having been swept into battle, send out Spamton to find Tenna instead. Only, Spamton still wants nothing to do with him after their first reencounter, and Tenna, with his senses heavily damaged, recognizes Spamton as someone he's not—Susie. Spamton decides to run with it. Bad things happen from there.

Summary
On a normal day, Spamton would’ve said that Tenna is chatty to a fault. Sure, it was one of his charms, but at the end of the day, a guy could only take so much. However, this wasn’t a normal day. He’d suspected something wasn’t quite right when Tenna had gone out of his way to avoid talking to him this morning.
Good thing CRTs have more than one way of communicating, especially when they happen to be the lifeblood of a Dark World that’s begun to fall apart at the seams.
