What was happening? Hades was a thousand-year-old god. He had seen empires rise and fall. He had seen humans commit acts of heroics and atrocities. He had seen Blockbuster go out of business. Nothing should faze anymore.
And yet… his son was making a valiant attempt at his sanity.
“I have no other explanation for why you have lost your ability to think and reason,” Hades told him shortly. “Are there other obvious things I should forbid while we are on the matter? Should I tell you not to bomb Olympus? Not to die?”
“I’m going to die someday.”
“Leave me,” Hades snapped at him. Unbelievable. Nico took a long intake of breath. “You don’t need to sigh at every little thing,” he added sharply. Nico paused. “Your life is not that taxing.”
“It’s not that-? I’ve been to Tartarus!”
“And what an impression it has made on you given that you are trying to return!”
Who tried to return to Tartarus? His son. That’s who. Maria was going to somehow appear and figure out how to kill a god.
Or
Nico said Hades forbade anyone from going in Tartarus and I just want to know what that conversation looked like.

Lando texts the group chat like he doesn’t already know that everybody will in fact be in town—that it was only him and Charles that left the nest after graduation—but in his defense: he hasn’t actually told anybody that he’s on his way home, or that he had any plans to visit.
It’s the end of April, and Lando lays splayed out and completely unbuckled—feet up and awkwardly pressing against the tiny window—in the back row of his boyfriend’s seven-seater van. Oscar is driving, humming along to crankling pop tunes on the radio.
“And then we’re going to get off to the next exit,” his other boyfriend, Max, tells Oscar. “And we’re going to be on highway twenty-two.”
Lando shifts his feet to check out the window: nothing but green trees, and blue sky. Perfect.
