He watched out of the corner of his eyes families reunited with their loved ones, with their sons and daughters, sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers.
He tried his damn hardest not to think about his own family, his own absent family.

Evan focused on his breathing, focused on counting his heartbeat. He slowly sunk into his not-quite SEAL headspace, slowing his thoughts until he wasn’t thinking anymore. It was easier that way.

It was a good day in Brooklyn. It was nice and sunny, a warm seventy degrees despite it being late afternoon. There was a light breeze, enough for the leaves on trees to rustle and sway, but not enough for the flags to stand upright. The streets were crowded with people, business people hurrying down sidewalks, lattes in hand, kids playing hopscotch with stones, friends speaking and laughing loudly together.
Today was a good day.

Summary
Royal Knight Link Hallowell, Champion of Hyrule, was the most curious of creatures. Since being assigned as Princess Zelda’s personal knight, Sir Link was never seen without the Master Sword, either strapped securely to his back, or firm in his grasp, blade out and ready.
It was unnerving how her rage against him due to her father’s orders dulled to indifference, to concern. Zelda could not name a time she had seen any emotion on her knight’s face. Not when he was reprimanded in front of his entire squadron (oh, how Zelda loathed her father), not when he won spar after spar against the other soldiers, not even when he was given a whole week off duty to visit his family. It was as if he was made of technology, created without emotion.
However, Zelda knew he couldn’t be robotic. Not when he bled for the kingdom to protect her. Logically, Zelda also knew that, had Sir Link been a robot programmed to protect her, he still wouldn’t have hesitated to jump in front of her, but she was certain that her knight was human, no matter how much he acted like he wasn’t.

Batman is insulted during a Justice League mission, which wouldn't be a problem except Nightwing is there to hear it. The other League members don't know this is a problem because they have no idea Batman has kids, much less that Nightwing is one of them. Bruce decides to do the only reasonable thing: go on vacation. His children probably won't burn down anything too important.
Dick just wants to defend his family and brag about his siblings. Good thing his father taught him a few things about the importance of detailed plans and talented allies.
