Summary
The first thing Lauma knew was pressure. She was born over a crowd, her first sight a room bent on its knees. It was a strange thing, to reconcile the feeling of drowning from the height of a pedestal; it shouldn’t have made sense, but all she knew was pressure still.
Lauma was not a god, despite the claims. She thought of pressure, and then her eyes snapped to Nefer's hands. The weaker part of her thought of tantalizing release.
OR: lauma is tired of being deified. what better than rough hands to affirm one's humanity?

Summary
“Change can be difficult,” Nefer offers simply, but not dismissively.
Lauma huffs, smiling in a way that doesn’t quite reach her eyes. “I honestly find it more complicated than difficult.”
She doesn’t regret it, of course. The Frostmoon Scions deserved to know the truth, and she can see that, despite the challenges, her people have proven themselves resilient, and malleable. Adaptable. Many have left, but many others have stayed too, and they’re building something new and something better now because of that difficult truth. She wouldn’t change anything, if she were given the chance to do things over.
But it’s—complicated. More so, lately.

“You’re making that face,” Nefer noted, looking at Lauma. “The one you make when you feel the need to burden yourself with the weight of the world.”
The Moonchanter shifted uncomfortably. "Truthfully,” she began, “I worry we’re in over our heads here. It took all we had to defeat Rerir last time. I’m unsure if that’s something we’d be able to do again.”

Ashru curls up beside Lauma, head pushing into her palm as he purrs against it. "Mreeooww mraw."
Lauma looks down at Ashru. "Worried?"
"Worried?" Nefer echoes and immediately her gaze snaps to Ashru. When Lauma looks back up as she realises she's been caught, all she sees is irritation crossing Nefer's face. "Is this not unfair? You get to understand him but I do not?"—
Ashru tries his best to get Lauma to realise some things about Nefer.
