The Oracle crystal ball was the first thing Luz saw as she woke up. Warm sunlight illuminated the small orb, reflecting lazily off its smudged glass. ‘Property of Hexside’ was stamped on the base in black ink. Just another detail the human had overlooked the night before. Slowly her memories of yesterday came back as she stared at the little crystal ball.
She opened her window and chucked it out as hard as she could.

Summary
Two months have passed since Emperor Belos captured Eda, forcing Luz to make a drastic decision. In return for curing Eda of her curse and letting them leave in peace, she gave Belos the portal to the human realm. Before slipping away, she managed to destroy the portal with some well-hidden glyphs, insuring the Belos would do no harm.
In these two months, Amity Blight has been slowly losing her mind.
Her crush on Luz had been growing stronger every day, and it was a miracle that she hadn’t noticed. Maybe she could finally work up the courage to tell her how she felt? How long could she keep her parents from finding out?
Meanwhile, Eda had growing concerns over how the Blight children were being treated and one very smitten kid to worry about. Hopefully nothing came of it, though it wouldn't be the worst to have a few more mouths to feed, right?

She had flamed out of fire magic, been bitten by beast keeping and just couldn't see through the fog of oracle nonsense. When she had finally taken to abomination magic, it just felt right. Something clicked for her when she summoned these disgusting beings, and that day she made a realization.
She shakily rose to her feet and steadied her breathing. Reaching back for a trickle of the power to make one last circle of light.

Summary
In a world magic exists, Luz Noceda attends a high school where she is bullied relentlessly because of her "curse". Luz is not able to cast magic spells by hand so she is forced to active glyphs she draws on paper.
With her mom constantly putting down Luz because of her weirdness and curse, she gains a depression.
There was one thing keeping her from leaving this world, her friendship with Gus and Willow. But, when Willow and her biggest bully, Boscha, suddenly start dating, her world crumbles.
It puts a dent in their friendship, not only with Willow but with Gus as well. Luz sees this as a sign as Willow and Luz getting tired of her weirdness. Although, Willow and Gus never state this, it what causes Luz to go over the edge.
Looking for an easy way out, she finds and article about a haunted house called the "Blights Mansion". The article stated that anyone who has entered has never returned and was claimed dead.
Thats all she needed to hear.
