“You? A tattoo? Chris Bean? Got a tattoo?”
“Yes I did, well noticed.”
“Who are you and what have you done with our director?”

Summary
Merlin is enjoying his last summer before university by getting up to the sorts of shenanigans he and Will usually get up to. This particular day, they happen to be taking a dip in a local lake to blow off steam.
Merlin didn't count on almost drowning. He certainly didn’t count on being rescued by a literal knight in shinning armor.

Summary
Merlin doesn’t do it again, at least not for a while. It was understandable, especially after Arthur reacted so drastically at his first attempt at closeness, but Arthur still couldn’t help but spend another few sleepless nights regretting his reaction.
Because he was the prince of Camelot, and if Merlin - irresponsible, reckless, sarcastic Merlin - wasn’t willing to touch him, then no one was.
So when the second time came - when Merlin, most likely without thinking (“when does he ever think?”), went in for a hug, Arthur hugged back.

“So let me get this straight,” Arthur said, folding his fingers together as the man in front him awkwardly shifted. “You are under the impression if you win the favor of my servant that you will then win my favor?” he asked and the nobleman shifted again.
“Well, sire,” he said “That is the common consensus among… the chatter.”
“The chatter,” Arthur repeated and his mind flashed to all the kindness Merlin had received from other nobles. Dear God.

Merlin has all of Camelot (and neighboring kingdoms) wrapped around his finger and Arthur is beginning to resign himself to the fact his servant somehow has more power than he does.

Authorities suspect it was taken at approximately 11pm due to sightings of an unknown man dressed in armor walking around the town hours before,” the news anchor reported, a blurry video popping up of a man who was drenched, wearing chainmail and looking around confusedly.
Merlin promptly spewed out his tea.
