A second, then a blur. Ilya knocking over one of the kitchen island stools to engulf Shane. His shaking frame holding Shane so tight, Shane felt himself shaking back. He could only hold on back, just as tightly.
“Please.” Came the strangled voice by his left ear. “Please, tell me.”
And who was Shane to ever deny a wish of Ilya Rozanov.
“I’m signing to Ottawa. Tomorrow. If you would want to come with.”
And then Ilya was shoving him back, holding him close to his face. “Of course. I drive. Of course I come.”

Shane, fed up with Montreal, signs to Ottawa before their relationship is revealed. While he doesn't plan on keeping that a secret for long, he asks Ilya to let him get to know the team first, before they come out. To maybe have a normal season. “I told you. Hollander and I, we are in love. He is my hockey player.” Ilya wiggled his eyebrows at the joke, but couldn’t keep himself from watching Scott Hunter.
“Sure, Roz. You and Hollander are in love, want to get married, spend the rest of your lives playing hockey together.” When Ilya didn’t immediately reply to that very accurate statement, Hunter continued: “If you two are in love, I’m straight. That’s how likely that is.” He had laughed and skated away, though Ilya really hadn’t understood what was supposed to be funny about that.
Standing alone on the ice, the crowd slowly filing out of the rink, Ilya was faced with a startling realization: telling people may be harder than he thought.

Ilya pushed the button for a flat white before he turned. “Yes. With my partner. He is much more into the whole real estate thing than I.”
At those words, as if summoned, Shane appeared at the top of the stairs, a vibrating Anya at his side.

Ilya gets invited to film a Youtube Video for Architectural Digest for his house in Ottawa and he decides not to hide the fact that someone else also lives here in the off season. He could have warned the camera team beforehand, but that would have taken all the fun out of the reveal.Series

Harris had an unofficial poll on a whiteboard in the media team’s office: Team Hollander vs Team Rozanov; something that apparently was never allowed to be revealed to the general public according to Harris’s strong warning the first time Wyatt had seen it. He had promptly and dramatically signed his name under Team Hollander, though he had to write small in the little space left. He had obviously landed up at the best team possible - at least when it came to being a fan of Shane Hollander.
Then Ilya Rozanov was traded to Ottawa.
Suddenly, Shane Hollander went from a Hockey God, whose presence Wyatt was graced with a few times a year, to the most talked about figure in the Centaurs locker room.
Ilya Rozanov was not Shane Hollander, but he might as well be the second best thing. Who else knew Shane Hollander better than his rival? Here was a live, captive source of information. A practical Shane Hollander encyclopaedia.

Summary
Shane Hollander lands his breakout role opposite Ilya Rozanov in a buzzy rivals-to-lovers adaptation. Their on-screen chemistry is electric & their off-screen “practice” is supposed to be no strings attached. When the show airs, the internet starts paying attention & all the lines start to blur.
Or…what if Shane & Ilya were actors who met on the set of an HR-like show, have to deal with fame & semi-unhinged fandom, and are still idiots falling in love.
(Lots of yearning, some angst but also fluff/HEA.)

“I’m gay”
The silence that followed was deafening. He ignored it and went on to put his gear on. After that it was like a flip had been flipped. No one spoke to him during practice or in the changing room, the team chat was suspiciously quiet. No one did anything physical but they didn’t need to. Their silence spoke louder than anything they could have possibly said and Shane wasn’t stupid despite what many of them thought.
Or: After Rose helps him see that he's actually not broken Shane finds it harder to pretend to be something he's not so the truth slips out without his permission. The fall out is unpredictable and the life he's spent years building is falling apart. Still he can't find it in himself to regret it because while it might have caused him a lot of pain in the moment that little slip up might have been the best mistake he'd ever made.
