“I’ve never met a kitsune who ran a teahouse before.” A fiery eyebrow rose in challenge as he stared across the low table to the beautifully dressed okami before him.
“I could say the same for you.” Dazai said mockingly, a wicked smile on painted lips. “Who knew that a tengu would lower their pride and fight for the humans too?”

“What have you done?” the question falls somewhere between a hiss and a whisper.
Dazai’s lips lift and part around a sound of amusement at the question, “What does it look like? I’ve come back to take what’s mine,” he answers with the self-congratulatory arrogance that only Dazai could possess.

Mind control is Dazai's most hated type of Ability, but luckily for him, he's immune to it. Unfortunately for Chuuya, he isn't. And when Chuuya loses control, there's only one person who can bring him back. That is, if he can reach him in time.

“Remember how I promised to keep you safe? To never let you leave again?”
Chuuya’s lips tremble as he continues to stare at something invisible, murmuring bites of words to himself.
“This is it,” Dazai says and, grasping hold of his chin, he firmly guides Chuuya’s face to look at him. “You are not allowed to leave me, so wherever you currently are, snap out of it and come back to me.”

After doing some perfunctory waving and smiling for the crowd, he turns to Chuuya and elbows him in the arm, too high above to reach his waist. “Aren’t you tired yet of always losing to me?”
“I hope you fall off the podium and die,” Chuuya says without breaking his awkward camera grin.
Dazai mock gasps. “Now what would your fans say if they knew the vile things that come out of your mouth when no one’s looking?”
— or, the figure skating AU in which Dazai and Chuuya are forced to become rink mates when they are teenagers, sparking a rivalry that is as catastrophic as it is epic. A story about obsessions.
