Summary
What do you need after a breakup? The antithesis of your ex. In Penelope's case this means something fun, warm and interesting (aka the anti-Debling), and people who feel the normal amount of love for penguins.
So she heads to Australia for Christmas, because fuck Debling, fuck snow, and fuck Christmas with her family too. She's independent, courageous, assertive. She is putting what Penelope wants first for once.
And while what she wants isn't necessarily to have to be rescued on her first beach day here, she does enjoy being scooped out of the water by the most mouthwateringly hot man she's ever seen in her life.

Summary
ㅤ🎶 And then I go and spoil it all
by saying somethin’ stupid like I love you 🎶
It all started when Penelope openly lost her marbles during the staff meeting, a week after their trip to Aubrey Hall.
A single long weekend–meant for sweet marshmallow-roasting–had turned their bond of nearly two decades into a wreckage of silent suffering, stretching her resolve so thin she snapped. She wanted to claw her way out of her Colin-shaped bubble wrap because she couldn’t breathe anymore.
So, why not pour gasoline on the fire in front of the whole office?
All she wanted was to avoid him. All he wanted was for her to talk to him and tell him what broke her. The only communication–forced and charged with tension–begs the question: could the remains of their friendship vanishing before their eyes force them to see what they've both been too blind to admit, or will they insist on saying something stupid that isn't ”I love you”?

Summary
After another detour, another hour in traffic, and then another detour, they’re finally rolling through a mostly clear, fairly deserted stretch of road. Then, the GPS on the screen loses signal.
“Fuck,” he mutters. “Can you check your cell?”
Penelope does, but there’s not even a hint of a bar. For good measure, she checks his, but it’s just as signal-less.
“I can’t believe we’re lost,” she says with a giggle. “You’re gonna be hungry soon.”
“You afraid you’re gonna get eaten first?” he asks with a stupidly charming grin. Penelope nudges him with her elbow.
“If we turn back now, we’re going to end up doing this for another five hours,” Colin whines. “And I’m worried I’ll probably get us more lost with how all the detours ended up.”
“There was a sign for an inn not that far back. Do you want to try our luck?” she asks him. He purses his lips.
“Probably a better idea, and at least we can be warm inside. I’m dying to be vertical again,” he agrees.
or; penelope and colin get lost on their way to aubrey hall and stay at an inn on christmas.
