    He didn't know how to answer that question. There was no way to answer that question without embarrassing himself.

    Sorry, Dr. Robby. I’m lonely. I miss my family. I'm thinking about all of the patients I’ve lost. I know you've lost hundreds more, and I know this is just part of the job, and I should just get used to it, but my fucking soul hurts. I feel like a failure. I miss my mom. I wish she loved me more than she loves God. Is that a fucked up thing to say?

    Summary

    All Steve knows is that he was in an accident when he was ten that resulted in total amnesia--at least, that's what he's been told. In reality, Steve was one of the numbers, abandoned when Brenner deemed his powers too unstable to work with. With the help of the kids, El is able to unlock Steve's hidden abilities.

    Things are hard for Steve as he adapts to his new, constant powers. He struggles to overcome the phycological toll that all lies he's been told over the past nine years. He and the kids also struggle to figure out his powers, as they have a different, more destructive flavor than El's.

    Steve's parents make matters worse when they bring a figure from his past life back into his world. Will Steve play into their hands and become the weapon he was always meant to be? What friends will he make along the way? Will the buzzing ever stop?
