Summary
“Uh, Dr. Robby?”
Upon hearing his name, the man whirls around in his chair, his eyes immediately landing on Dennis and the baby. Robby freezes at the sight, and sharply inhales, his pupils dilating.
“We might, uh, have a situation.” Dennis says, looking down at the infant, who is now peacefully sleeping in his arms, before flicking his eyes up to look at Robby.
“What is it, Whitaker?” Robby asks, finally snapping out of his daze, reverting back into doctor mode.
“Someone left their baby in the bathroom.”

When Dennis finds the abandoned baby, it changes everything.

Summary
The world didn’t end in ash and fire, nor did it end in ice.
Nature came back with a vengeance, turning the ruins of civilization into a lush, bioluminescent paradise that smells like honey and looks like a dream—but for an omega like Dennis, it’s a graveyard. For him, his mere existence was a miracle, almost no omegas resisted the diseases in the air after the world ended. After three years of surviving the silent, predatory green alone, Dennis has learned that trust is a luxury he can't afford and alphas are a danger he can't outrun.
Then he falls in a ruined pharmacy, and Michael Robinavitch catches him.

Summary
Dennis had been more than happy pretending to be a Beta. Patches were expensive, and he always felt bad when he slipped a few from the hospital supply. But the momentary guilt and a rash or two were a small price to pay to avoid being an anomaly among his peers. The fact that he got away with the deception for so long was a miracle in and of itself. It was only a matter of time before something like a massive patch recall managed to throw a giant wrench and an inconveniently timed flash heat in Dennis' life.
With nowhere to go and no idea what to do, Dennis was forced to accept Dr. Robby and Dr. Abbot's kind offer to wait out his heat in their spare room. And hope that the massive crush he had on the two Alphas didn't make a mess of everything.

Summary
It’s Robby’s duty to take care of his staff, do whatever he can to defend and uplift them. It’s his stupid, asshole alpha-brain that transforms this desire to help into possession, into a feeling of mine and pack and claim.
Claim. The answer hits him square in the jaw.
“You have to. Because if you don’t, we’re fucked.”
“Whitaker,” Robby finally snaps, a growl buried beneath his words, as he reaches out and grabs onto the man’s shoulders, grounding him to earth. “I will mate you.”
Silence. Then.
“I’m. I’m sorry?”
---
Or: PTMC has a rule that unmated omegas are forbidden from working in the Department of Emergency Medicine, for the safety and comfort of both the patients and the omegas in question.
Dennis Whitaker, quite frankly, thinks that this rule is antiquated and bigoted; thus, like any sane person, he lies on his application and makes up a fake mate. When the truth is revealed, Robby is forced to step in before Whitaker is removed from the program. (Fake-dating!AU)

Summary
“You’re old,” Dennis says, watching the mature lines around Robby’s eyes shift as he raises an eyebrow.
“I don’t know what you mean by that, Whitaker, but I expect professionalism from you, whatever this is,” Robby declares, stepping to the side, but before he can escape Dennis’s trap, the omega follows, pressing his chest even more firmly against the alpha. The lockers creak in protest as the alpha’s back hits them hard.
“A-and… and… you don’t have children, and you’re not married,” Dennis continues, searching for the words and raising his tone with each one. His chin lifts higher, trying to draw Robby’s eyes to his.
The alpha merely narrows his eyes and parts his lips without making a sound. Dennis is quicker to silence him:
“It is not at all sensible to court a married omega, Doctor Robby.”
Or: Dennis is tired of hearing the murmurs that follow Doctor Robby’s name, so he decides for both of them to accept the marriage proposal. Though, to be clear, Robby had never actually proposed.

Summary
Dennis Whitaker was raised to be ashamed of what he was, of who he was. Omegas were better kept hidden, out of sight and out of mind, until the time came to use them. He spent his heats alone, locked away in one of the sheds on the farm. Nobody to help or hold him, nobody to tell him it was going to be okay. He just wanted it to be okay.
Running away from Broken Bow was the best decision he had ever made.
Even if that meant struggling to get by, to make it through medical school while also being technically homeless. He was alive, he was free.
Until an accidental pre-heat encounter lands him in the bed of two much older alphas. Alphas who also happen to be the lead attendings for his ER rotation. Suddenly, a one-night stand turns into something far more complicated. Something capable of changing all of their lives for good.
If only their stubbornness would stop getting in the damn way.

Summary
“It’s you,” he chokes. “Okay? It’s fucking—you.”
Dennis knows he must look like a wild animal. He feels like one, eyes blown wide, chest heaving under the effort it took to keep that in.
For a split second, he’s thirteen again, kneeling in a dark confessional booth that smells like dust and old varnish. Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. There’s a man on the other side of the partition, shadowed and faceless. He braces for disappointment. For correction. No hail Marys passed through the lattice. No absolution.
When he looks up now, it isn’t a priest staring back at him.
It’s Robby. And Robby doesn’t look angry. It would’ve been easier if he had. Furious at the duty, as he called it, thrust upon him without consent. Anger, Dennis could survive. Instead, Robby looks incredulous, like he doesn’t even believe him.
Or Dennis has rejection sickness, and he must stay by Robby's side to recover. Alone.
