Shadia knows in theory that Azune has been to war, but knowing is very different from understanding. Her father went to war, once. He doesn't talk about it. Not really, not to her and or to Alogar either, except in that sideways way that he sometimes talks about dangerous things; telling fantastical stories about something else entirely and letting you read between the lines. Which means Azune has lived something her father thinks that even telling her about is too risky, and Shadia cannot understand.
(In which Hal's children also love each other, all of them, including the one Uncle Thjazi left on dad's doorstep one day without any warning.

The first time she comes barreling into the house like the devil’s on her heels, he’s on his feet with his gun in hand at once, stepping between her and the door, sure an intruder is about to burst through after her. He readies himself for a fight, already planning how to get an attacker out of the house and away from Ellie.
And then he hears her laughing.
He turns to see her, panting and sweaty, laid out on the floor like she’s a rug, her face practically glowing with the force of her smile. She lifts both hands to the air in fists and cheers.
“What are you doing,” he asks, but the question comes out flat in light of his confusion. He gives the door one more look, but no intruder is imminent, and he holsters his gun, going to one knee beside Ellie, still on her back, breathing hard.
“I beat it!” She says, clearly proud about whatever the hell she’s talking about.
“Beat what?” He asks.
“Curfew!” She nearly crows.
He blinks.
It’s possible they’ve had a misunderstanding about what exactly a curfew is.

When new students arrived at Gotham Academy, they quickly learned three very important things about the school, which, the first week back, Charlie Gage-Radcliffe of that fall’s sophomore class helpfully wrote on the whiteboard in the student rec room:
1: Bruce Wayne, yes, that Bruce Wayne, donates an absurd amount of money to the school and so has his absurd amount of children on the premises.
2: Do not cross Principal Amanda Waller, and do not believe her when she says “if you come forward, you won’t be punished.”
3: Mr. Grayson of the math department and Ms. Gordon of the English department absolutely fucking hate each other.

“Why don’t you just ask around?” she asked him. “Heroes have stories and people are always eager to tell them. I’m sure any of the Greeks could tell you more about him.”
“It’s not a bad idea,” Jordan added. “It would be nice knowing exactly why he was part of the prophesied Seven. I know the Venus girl had sorcery and the Vulcan boy obviously had power over fire. But why Jackson? Just because they took a boat?”
Despite raising him on a shield, Romans don't know much about Percy Jackson, or even the Greeks in general. As the Legion attempts to recover from the wars, they find out there is far more to the Son of Neptune then they originally thought, and learn quite a few things about themselves along the way.
