Summary
A hand grasped his arm, sending a brief thrill down Merlin's nerves as he was forced around to face the person behind him. Armour gleamed in the firelight: supple chainmail glinted, and the solid iron of a pauldron curved lovingly over one broad shoulder. The length of a sword blade separated them. The point hovered, steady and sure, over Merlin's heart, braced to run him through, but he did not care about any of that. He was too busy drinking in the sight of the man before him.
He could never forget him, no matter how many centuries had passed.
'Arthur?'
When Merlin ultimately fails in his destiny, the fading remnants of magic that linger in the modern world fling him not just back in time, but sideways as well. He ends up in a Camelot where all his friends are alive, well and aware of his magic.

When Arthur is born, Ygraine dies and Uther vows vengeance against all magic.
When Arthur is four, Nimueh decides to take matters into her own hands and casts an enchantment on the prince as penance for his father. One which can only be removed by a magic user willing to undo the enchantment for the sake of helping Arthur, and no other reason.
When Arthur is seven, the truth of the spell's nature comes to light.
When Arthur is fifteen, the rumours of the worsening enchantment spread among the kingdoms until news it has been removed take their place and his father tells Arthur he must never let anyone know the truth of the matter.

After sending Gwaine to infiltrate and investigate the enemy, Arthur manages to strike Cenred an unexpected blow by capturing Emrys, considered a war criminal of the worst kind. But Arthur and his knights soon get an inkling that Cenred's war sorcerer might not be as evil as they thought him to be. Will a quest to save all of Albion be enough for both king and sorcerer to step back on the path prophecies have once foretold?
