Chrollo detaches from himself, looks at Kurapika with dead eyes, an empty face. “He killed some of us,” he says softly. “Weak, proud men don’t take their losses well, it seems.”
There is a short pause. Chrollo does not come back to himself.
“Are you talking about him, or about yourself?”
Kurapika is smiling. Chrollo stares at him. It’s a cruel, sharp, wild thing, carved like a crescent moon stretched too far.
“Look, Lucifer,” he says quietly. “How does it feel?”

Chains materialized on Kurapika’s hand. His eyes burned scarlet by instinct. Just as he was about to conjure his Chain Jail, his movements halted in caution as Chrollo drew a ragged breath.
“Apologies for the late visit,” his voice was smooth with an almost indiscernible edge to it, contrary to the pain on his face that was just as quickly veiled as it had appeared. He gave a thin smile, bringing Kurapika’s attention to the hint of dried blood on the corner of his lips. “I… didn’t know where else to go…”
With that, Chrollo fell forward, and Kurapika caught him in his arms before he could think.
