Eddie purses his lips and nods.
“What?” Buck seriously shouldn’t scowl so much considering the headache he already has. “To who?”
At this, a flicker of a smile dances over Eddie’s lips. He gives a miniscule shake of his head, looking at Buck with unwavering fondness, and says two words that change Buck’s life forever, “To me.”

“Buck,” Eddie said, exasperated.
“Look, it doesn’t mean anything, I know,” Buck said. “It was an accident.”
Eddie’s eyes widened. “But what if it does mean something?”
Buck frowned. “Eddie, you’re straight.”
“I know,” Eddie said.

May shakes her head. "You two are the meme where it's like: I told my friends a funny story, but then everyone looked horrified and apologized. I’m still not sure what went wrong!”
Maddie rolls her eyes. “Our entire childhood was soaked in grief and self-esteem issues. Is it really any wonder we had issues as teenagers?”
“Christ, you two need family counseling.” Karen says, shaking her head.
“This is the emotionally stunted man you want helping raise your child?” Hen verifies to Eddie, “This one? You’re certain.”
“It's already legally binding, so,” Eddie replied flippantly.
“I’m sorry, did you two get married without telling us?” Chimney jokes but still appears a little lost.
“Or start dating, for that matter?” Athena inquires.
Buck and Eddie are both immediately flustered. “What? No—”
Or, when faced with a potentially abusive father on a call, Buck goads the man into punching him to keep the kids with their mother. The 118 learn a little bit about Buck as a teenager.
This is mostly fluff. Maddie and Buck make jokes at their own expense.

When his family start reminiscing about their Academy Graduation, Buck is brought back to a time where no one was there for him.But it's fine!

Just the two of us.” His whole body halts, a watchful air around Buck as he turns towards him slowly. Eddie’s heart is beating a bruise against his chest. “I can make us dinner. You know. Like-... Like a dat–”
“BAMBI!”
All heads swing to the open bay doors, one mountain of a man standing proud with his hands at his waist.

Just as Eddie finally finds the courage to ask Buck out on a date, an old friend of Buck's shows up and their relationship is deep. Eddie tries to stay hopeful but with a potential long-lost love standing in the way, he knows he has to do what's best for Buck no matter what. Even if that means letting him go.

Buck knew that these things didn’t matter. Names do not make you. They mean nothing at the end of the day, but Buck still longed to have a name that conjured love instead of heartbreak. He wanted to share a name with someone who cared about him, someone who wanted to share a life with him, someone who felt like coming home. More than anything, Buck wanted to feel like he was a part of something with someone he loved. He wanted to belong.

Summary
“Oh, sorry,” David says quickly. Then, after a pause and a confused look sent Michael’s way, he elaborates, “Just, Michael had told me you two were dating.”
Well that’s a little weird. Buck doesn’t know Michael too well, but he’s talked to him a few times at group gatherings. Michael thought he and Eddie were a couple this whole time? He looks at the man in question quizzically.
“Well, that’s what May had told me,” Michael explains defensively. Buck and Eddie then turn their eyes to May, who looks a little like a deer in the headlights.
“Wait, but Mom said-”
Before the blame can even properly be placed on Athena, she interrupts. “Bobby told me himself that you two were dating.”
Finally, Buck and Eddie face Bobby questioningly.
“What do you mean, you aren’t dating?” Bobby asks, looking about as confused as everyone else.
