Summary
Kian and Becky are curled up together on Kian’s bed. The curtained off area in the RV that is his bedroom makes it a lot more cramped than if they were in Becky’s room, but Kian likes to think of it as cosy. Plus, Becky’s parents don’t like seeing him around.
They’re sorting through Becky’s makeup kit. She wanted to throw out some of the older stuff, and Kian wanted to hang out. So, here they are.
Becky holds up a small eyeshadow kit for him to examine.

Summary
Rolan doesn’t really drink or do drugs - at least not as much as Kian and Rand do. But being this close to Kian feels a little like being intoxicated. Like he’s getting a second hand high from Kian’s perfume.
She’s sitting so close to Rolan she may as well be on top of him. Rolan can barely even focus on her face. All he really manages to catch is the furrow of Kian’s eyebrows and the tiny bit of her tongue poking out from her lips as she concentrates.
She’s got a hand firmly on Rolan’s jaw, holding his face steady. The other is lifting up lipstick - the final thing to complete his look.

Summary
It’s easier to be vulnerable with Kian than it is to be vulnerable with Rolan. It feels weird to admit that to himself, but it’s true.
A holdover from when they were kids, he’s sure. When Kian and him would get high together, and get a little too emotional. When it was late at night, Rand would get Kian to sneak out because he knew Kian’s parents wouldn’t care and he didn’t want to get Rolan in trouble.
He knows it isn’t mutual.

Summary
They stumble over each other, trying to get inside as quickly as possible. And when Rolan starts coughing from the incense, Kian ushers them both into his bedroom, shutting the door behind them.
“Man.” Rand shakes his head, water flying everywhere, to Kian’s dismay. “That came outta nowhere!”
“No, it didn’t.” Rolan peels his jumper off. “I told you it was going to rain, man.”

Summary
William has Dakota’s heart beating in his chest. Now that all the adrenaline, and shock, and excitement is wearing off it’s starting to actually hit him. Dakota’s heart. Not his original one, of course - but still undeniably his.
It’s like something out of a twisted romance movie.

Summary
William knows it’s going to be a bad day as soon as he wakes up. To be honest, he was kind of hoping he’d managed to avoid the consequences of using his powers too much this time around but apparently not!
His body feels heavy. Not quite connected to himself. Like at any moment it’s going to sink six feet into the ground leaving his soul behind to roam this desolate mortal plane for all of eternity.
He makes a noise of frustration and sluggishly forces himself into a sitting position.

Summary
Kian Stone wants to keep his work life and his rockstar life separate. No, he needs to keep his work life and his rockstar life separate. It’s a matter of survival.
So sure, yes, by now he’s rich enough that he could fund his own album. Pay a couple of radio stations to play it on air. But too much could go wrong with that and Kian is not going to let himself be left with nothing again.

Summary
It’s the night before graduation and Kian has convinced Rolan to join him at the diner.
It’s late. Much later than Rolan would prefer to be up, Kian knows. But he’s sitting across from him anyway, sipping on his milkshake and occasionally grabbing fries from the basket between them.
They’re the only ones here, apart from the skeleton crew of workers who promptly disappeared into the back as soon as they got their order.
It’s nice. Private. Here, Kian can pretend like they’re the only two people in the world.

Summary
William is having a wonderful time not sleeping and totally isolating himself from the rest of the group. Really, he is.
Hidden - rather pathetically - in the next room over, he sits hunched near a wall. Close enough that he could lean back against it if he really wants to, but he’s not going to right now. Thinking ahead, and all that.
He shouldn’t be surprised that someone comes to find him. He shouldn’t be surprised it’s Dakota.

Summary
So, he’s doing a lot of thinking. And maybe a lot of shoving thoughts into mental boxes with the promise to unpack them later but with the intention of never touching them again, if he can help it.
Ideally, he’d like to just fall asleep. But that’s too much to ask, apparently.
At least it means he’s already awake when Dakota starts nudging him, though.
“Will.” He’s whispering, but he’s still loud in the silence of the night. “Hey, William.”
“Yeah?”
Dakota shifts, sitting up.
“Can I talk to you?”

Summary
This is the first inn they’ve seen since they defeated Zuen. It’s a little rundown, not that Peter particularly cares since it’s honestly nicer than his old apartment. It’s a decently sized inn, packed to the brim with people still celebrating the sky’s return.
If Thanatos was still here, Peter thinks he’d be huddled close to him to avoid the crowd. It worked fairly well in the past - Thanatos’ menacing aura keeping most people at a distance. But now, he just has to wait by the entrance while Elena charms the innkeeper for a room. Try to ignore the empty space beside him.

Summary
The thing about Peter Sqloint is that Rumi’s been dreaming of him for months. Oh sure, he couldn’t remember much of the details - not until he’s glancing around the tavern and his eyes catch on Peter’s face, which is when everything suddenly clicks. When he knows his destiny - everything he’s been waiting for - is mere moments away from starting.
It’s hard to see Peter as anything other than wonderful - anything other than a blessing to his life - when that is a simple truth about him.
But to say that is all to like about Peter Sqloint is to lie.

Summary
The first thing Peter sees when he wakes is Rumi kneeling over him. And for a second, with the power of Rumi’s magic dulling the pain, he is sure that he’s died and Rumi is the angel welcoming him to heaven.
Except, no - he’s seen angels (one of them at least) and Rumi is much kinder and prettier than them. The soft smile on his face as he swipes a thumb back and forth over Peter’s cheek. The way he seems to be almost glowing in the dim light of the stained glass windows.
Even though they’ve been fighting he looks perfect - not a strand of hair out of place.
It only lasts for a second.

Summary
His chest still hurts from the impact of the arrow - the potion healing whatever major damage it could find, but not quite being strong enough to heal all of it.
It will most likely leave a scar. He has mixed feelings on that.
Mostly because there’s a guilt that’s been clinging to Jay’s body since the prison, the weight of it making her shrink in on herself. It amplifies when she looks at him. Her eyes flicking down to his chest like she still expects her arrow to be there. And Gillion is shorter than her, so he can still catch the swirling mix of grief and guilt in them whenever she does.
