The world is ending. The Branded and the Faeyn both dread it equally, in fact it's probably the most equality between the two species. The Branded responsible for it... never had a choice to begin with. They were born, branded like the rest, but unfortunately the were the new Death Rose, the Clockwork Rose. They grew up, feared by everyone other than their parents, who passed away shortly after they turned thirteen. And now, they are seventeen and they have three months until the world ends completely. Three months until they turn eighteen and everything comes to an end. Of course, they don't want that... but they don't know how to stop it, for as long as the Death Rose marks them, the world will end the moment they turn eighteen.
They have given in.
Or so they thought, until a chance encounter with a Branded mechanic gives them a push in the right direction and later a Faeyn barmaid joins the two in a quest to save the world. However an organisation in the shadows has different plans for the Clockwork Rose, and will stop at nothing to capture them.
