“Pen, how are you?” His cheerful voice used to bring butterflies to life in the pit of her stomach. Now it rolled in revulsion.
“I am well, Mr. Bridgeton; now if you would excuse me, I have the most unbearable headache, and I wish to return home.” She said coming up with an excuse off the top of her head. She tried to rush past him to round the corner of the house. He reached out his hand, wrapping around her forearm. Pulling her to a stop.
"Pen, are we okay?” He asked hesitantly, “It’s just that I wrote you this summer and you never replied; admittedly, not many people did, but if you are going to make me say it, I’ve missed you.” His eyes held sincerity. She closed hers briefly to keep from rolling her eyes.
“You missed me, but you would never court me?” She mumbled.
“What?” He whispered out in shock.
“That’s what you said last summer. At my mother’s ball, I heard you, before you try to deny it.” She held his gaze as he struggled to form words, trying to think of anything to redeem himself. “The problem is, I never asked you too”

A few hours ago, he’d been curled up on the floor of the Chateau’s bathroom, dry-heaving like a loser. His throat burned, his head was pounding, and his brain wouldn’t shut up about everything he’d screwed up. Stealing from his dad, running, being a piece of shit, the fact that he’d be fucking murdered as soon as he stepped foot at his house—it had all hit him at once.

He’s just finished the second braid when there’s a squeak from down the hall like rubber on linoleum. His head shoots up, followed quickly by Kiara’s and Cleo’s. Pope is last, his dark eyes blinking rapidly as he follows everyone’s gaze to where John B is skidding – and slipping – to a stop in front of them.
His hair stands up at every angle, the curls wild and messy the way they are after a full night of partying at The Boneyard, but his smile – though sleepy – is the brightest thing JJ has ever seen in his entire life. Teary-eyed, with a wrinkled shirt, mussed hair, and eyelids that look ready to close – John B has never looked happier.
Looking between his friends slowly, John B’s eyes eventually settle on JJ. They stare at each other – something passing between them, something JJ can feel right in the center of his chest – and then John opens his mouth and practically sobs the words, “We have a daughter.”

A RANT ABOUT JJ’S DEATH.
I never posted on here before but I needed to vent somewhere because JJ deserves more. I immediately became attached to him at the beginning of the series. His home life was similar to mine. The only thing i wanted out of this story was to see him happy. To see him get out of the abuse, the bullying and stereotypes. All i wanted was for him to succeed. He deserved to be happy. He deserved to heal. He deserved better.
EDIT: Thank you for your replies! I’m so glad i wasn’t alone in feeling this way! I loved and agreed with every single comments!! This used to be my comfort show. i watched it AT LEAST once a month. That may have been an obsessive amount but i found such comfort in their found family. It’s almost been a year and i still can’t bring myself to watch it. i know i won’t be watching season 5.
