Summary
Nick Wilde made it as clear as he could that he did not want them involved in whatever that snake was talking about! Other plans in mind, his partner Judy continued to drag him further along with her own sense of justice anyway. Eventually, things drag Nick along so far- too far in fact- that he quite literally falls over the edge.
Free falling towards death leaves the fox thinking back on everything that has been his life. There's a lot of regret: Not just about the fox that he is, but the world that has made him into the fox he is. The lynx wasn't wrong, this case is not worth dying for. So does that mean his death wasn't worth it? Nick still wishes he could have just gotten away from it all. Sadly, he doubt he'd ever get the chance to learn his lesson.
Or maybe, in a way he will...
Everyone takes him for dead, buried somewhere underneath the blizzard. Somehow still alive, the fox picks himself out of the snow covered ground before help can arrive. His cold body shakes. He needs warmth and safety. Trudging along through the blizzard, he searches for a village, or anything warm. Icy wind slashes through his fur. Struggling with each step, one question keeps circling his mind, "How did I... get here?"

In Zootopia, there was a chance for every collared-predator to be free. If they did a good deed for a prey mammal then the prey could free the predator from their collar. But the reality wasn't as simple as that, especially toward a certain lone fox. Could he get his freedom from a certain bunny officer? Or maybe he would lose all of his hope and end his life before she could help him?
What Nick Wilde knew was that, life is never fair, especially toward a collared fox like him.
And there was no way for a bunny officer, named Judy Hopps, to genuinely help him. Just no way, impossible. Never.

Nick had no idea that his con on the bunny cop would lead him down such a precarious path.

Most of which felt like Judy’s doing (if he was just counting that day) for landing him in this miserable situation.
