The Maxcar sequel to my fic Oh, golden boy
...
Oscar giggles to himself again. Max cocks his head at him in question. He must probably think Oscar’s gone insane. He can’t fault him for it. He is feeling a bit insane. He blames it on the gin. “I don’t think anyone’s ever called me sweet before. Or emotional.”
Max looks at him for a long second, his gaze heavy, wandering. For all the time he's forced to spend in front of a camera, Oscar has never learned to be comfortable being looked at. For some reason though, when it is Max looking at him, it never seems to be an issue. When Max looks at him, he doesn’t feel like he’s being scrutinized, surveyed to be then analyzed and picked apart a hundred times; he feels simply being seen, taken in with all his goods and bads as if they're not something to be judged, but to be accepted as a mere, faultless facts. “Well, maybe they don’t know you well enough.”
He blushes, his face feeling ablaze. “And you think you do?”
“It’s a work in progress.” Max says, simple as ever, simple as if the statement doesn’t want to make Oscar down the entire bottle of alcohol in front of him and start screaming.Series

Summary
As the 2025 season progresses, rumours intensify about a possible Toyota power unit for 2026, although who will use it remains shrouded in an air of mystery.
Oscar Piastri is growing increasingly discontent with each passing race; McLaren has slowly been eroding his patience, and sooner or later, he'll have had enough, especially as the team begins to favour his teammate, Lando Norris, more openly. Meanwhile, Matilda Trent is at the top of Australian motorsport after making history at Bathurst and duking it out for the title of V8 Supercars champion. However, Matilda's past in F3 has her itching for a call to F1, which she thinks will never come.
Both will be united under one roof on an expanded starting grid, with new rules and regulations that level the playing field for the top teams, setting the stage for a title fight for the ages. Though the two's history suggests they will do a little more than drive the cars.

Summary
He can do another lap. He’ll box next lap. After he’s caught Max. So he can at least prove that he can. That he’s still got what it takes to be world champion. That the proud #1 on his car is deserved and has a chance to be more than just a one year staple.
As soon as he passes the pit entrance he knows he’s screwed up. The silence on the radio is loud. And he feels the grip in his tires start to give. He doesn’t spin out, keeps control in a way that even Max would be impressed by, and continues around the first corner.
But with each corner he feels the gap between them widen.
They're entering turn sixteen. He’s so close to the pit entrance. Max is ahead of him. He’d mostly been trying to keep his tires alive but Max takes a wide turn and this is his chance. He accelerates, putting faith in his tires that they will keep their grip on the slick track. They don't.
---Lando makes a poor decision. Max pays the price.

The late 2025 Oscar villain arc we all wanted.

“I hate you. Christ, I hate you so fucking much, I can’t even… You weren’t supposed to be like this.”
Oscar forgets to breath, the words settling over him with a wave of nausea and a sick sense of arousal. His every nerve ending feels like it’s on fire. “Like what?”
“Winning. Before me, too. Beating me. Making me feel like…” Lando rasps. “Every time you stand over me on the podium, I want to rip my hair out. It drives me fucking insane. Every time you win, I hate it, I hate you.” He licks his lips, Oscar’s eyes pathetically tracking the movement.
“If you’d just drive better, you wouldn’t be seeing me win.” He says, his stomach churning. “You wouldn’t need my fucking help. And just for the record, I can’t stand you either.” It’s a blatant lie, and he thinks Lando knows it, but maybe he doesn’t, because his expression shatters, defiance crumbling into a million broken pieces right in front of Oscar. And Oscar, who just minutes ago was pushing exactly for this reaction, can’t take it. Not when it’s Lando; not when it wasn’t true anyway.
“I’m sorry.” He says. Another lie. This one, they both recognize as such.Series

“Wha— Hold on, you don’t remember me do you?” Logan blurted out incredulously, the alcohol in his system removing every inhibition, slurring around his words. The sinking feeling in his stomach grew more as thousands of thoughts flashed in his head because— did he get the wrong guy? Or was he really that stupidly naive, thinking that Oscar Piastri would remember a nobody like him, even though Oscar was practically his only good connection back in the world of karting—
“I don’t— um, sorry, I mean, should I…?” The Aussie’s eyebrows scrunched in that way of his where he was trying to think but also calm the frustration brewing. It was so familiar and reminiscent of the habit he did when they were still children that Logan had to immediately squash the growing fondness warming him from the inside.
“Wait.” Oscar’s eyes suddenly widen, eyebrows shooting up and Logan thinks, bullseye. “Logan?”

Or: Logan was just trying to deal with the shitty hand life has dealt him, funnily enough, life presents him with another hand in the form of his childhood karting best friend.

Miles away in Milton Keynes, a private militia sets up base. It wasn't much, but it had to do. The rest of Europe was already taxed, cities reduced to rubble, communities worn thin. It was up to these men to save what little hope was left in the world. Until, Max Verstappen finds something more valuable than he could have anticipated.

Oscar Piastri had never fought for a championship title before 2025. Never truly been in contention, and although he promises himself to be better with every season, when the Abu Dhabi race ends, it all changes. Suddenly, Oscar does not know if he can keep that promise anymore. When his teammate is crowned the newest World Champion, Oscar doesn't quite know how to cope.
While all the lights in Abu Dhabi are turned in Norris's direction, Max slips closer to Oscar. What does it mean to lose, and how could they ever recover from it?
