“English is… is not first language,” the woman said quietly. Her accent was thick, and unmistakably Russian.
“Oh, sorry! I’m speaking too fast, aren’t I? Sorry,” she took a breath, and held out her hand. “I’m Yuna,” she repeated. The woman took her hand quickly, her hands bony and delicate.
“Irina,” she replied, before gesturing for Yuna to sit with her. Quickly, Yuna did. “Sorry, I have not been in Canada long.”
“No problem at all; welcome to Canada! Is that your boy?” Yuna asked, gesturing over to the child that had similar hair to Irina, which was poking out from under his helmet. He was taller than Shane, though his little hockey outfit still seemed to still dwarf him. He had a serious look on his face, but his eyes were light as he watched the other boys play. He was tapping his stick on the ice, clearly itching to get into the game.
“Ah, yes,” Irina nodded, taking a few seconds to translate the question, “Ilyusha.” Irina looked over at her son, a small smile on her face. “Is my Ilya.”
Or: Ilya and Irina move to Canada for a fresh start when he is six years old. He meets Shane Hollander at ice hockey practice, and they grow up together (and of course, fall in love).

Irina huye de Rusia con un Ilya de 6 años quien al conocer a Shane queda cautivado por las "estrellas" en su cara, son casi que clínicamente dependientes uno del otro y se la pasan tomados de las manos. No existía ni la mas remota posibilidad de que ellos no terminarán juntos, empezaron a salir estúpidamente pronto pero eso les ahorro(la mayor parte) los celos adolescentes. Sobrevivieron al mundo enterándose de ellos incluso antes del draft con Ottawa siendo el hogar de Shane como siempre debió ser. Ah! E Ilya decidió no ser profesional, lo cual tiene mucho sentido para mí con su personaje canónico y el de este AU, Ilya canon se hizo profesional porque necesitaba huir de Rusia, pero en este AU eso no es necesario, así que eligió ser esposo modelo(no tan así pero casi) y HAB a tiempo completo.

Summary
After coming out to Rose, Shane decides he doesn't want to lie anymore, even if he isn't sure coming out will mean he gets happily ever after with Ilya. When coming out to the Voyageurs leaves him wondering what his future in Montreal might look like, he lets himself be a little selfish, he lets himself wonder if there might be somewhere else he might be happy. If Montreal wants to get rid of a generational player, he's not about to stop them, especially if it means he can get a little closer to joy.

“It’s not something we’ve discussed too much,” Shane admits reluctantly. “I mean, I think we talked about it once or twice, after being around Hayden’s kids. But…I was afraid…I don’t know if you want…” His sentence falters and he presses a hand to his stomach, inhaling slowly like he’s trying to soothe more nausea.
It takes Ilya’s brain a few moments to process, to catch up, to piece together this half-filled puzzle Shane’s laying out for him.
“We talked about having babies,” Ilya supplies, arching an eyebrow, “are you trying to say we are…having a baby?”
Shane sucks in another slow, controlled breath. “Um, yeah. That’s what I’m trying to say.”
“You are pregnant?”
Wincing, the shorter man nods. “Mhm.”

En dónde Shane está embarazado y nos restriegan en la cara lo mucho que se aman. Shane queriendo llorar porque Ilya lo conoce y quiere que pueda controlar tantas cosas como sean posibles durante su embarazo y parto para que pueda sentirse un poco más cómodo, te entiendo cariño yo lloré.
