Wow, a quasi-canon griddlehark romance that actually works??? Incredible. Despite the facially idiotic premise, this turns out to exactly hit what is needed for this relationship to make sense in a near-canon AU with laser precision, and tell a damn good story with it besides. Also, John totally would instigate the facially idiotic premise because he's a facially idiotic man, so even that somehow works.
