If he had considered it hard enough, he could have come to the conclusion that a part of him longed for the way he had felt the last time he let Hajime do a little more than touch him. But Tooru didn’t. Because in the end, Iwaizume Hajime was just a boxer. And a boy, at that. That’s all that he could ever be.
And Suga was wrong, really— it wasn’t denial that stopped him from being anything more. It was self preservation. But if there was one thing Tooru had failed to learn in life, it was that the world always bites back just when you think you have it right.

Summary
He can’t look away from Mike's little sister, now thrashing about in her mother’s arms instead.
The brush of skin turns his head slowly to meet Mike’s tight lipped smile, standing on the stage with him now. It’s grim, but kind nonetheless for someone who has been actively avoided for the last two years. It’s only a pinky finger, curling and unnecessary around Will’s. But it burns. He lowers his gaze to the floor and tugs his hand out of reach, shoving it into his pocket instead.
He’s not doing this again. Not when Mike is the first and last person Will wants to kill right now.
Or: A Byler-Centric Hunger Games AU where Will Byers hates Mike Wheeler. (MOSTLY: Will Byers as Peeta Mellark and Mike Wheeler as Katniss Everdeen). Trust me, it makes sense.

Summary
Mike has managed to get just about everything he’s ever wanted since the age of twelve with a simple, dead stare. Fear works as a wonderful motivator, he’s found. He’s never had to be even remotely amiable to the people nor the objects he wants to own.
There’s just one thing which he can’t have like this, however. One thing which he can’t get with a sneer and a split fist. Because he can’t punch this boy into his possession, or even scare him into submission, according to Max.
No— Mike has to ‘charm’ him.
The very thought makes him feel queasy, but he’s truly never wanted anything more than he wants Will Byers.
Or: Will and Jonathan have lived with Lonnie instead of Joyce after their parents split, and he only moves to Hawkins four years later. He's suddenly burdened with a pair of dark eyes that follow him everywhere, and the weight of Mike Wheeler's spiralling obsession with him, as he finds out exactly why everyone hates the boy so much.
(This version of Mike Wheeler is what I believe it would be like if he grew up without a Will Byers in his life. Spoiler alert: he's not a good person.)

Summary
Ever since Mike had known him, Will had bitten his tongue. When they were younger, he communicated solely in small noises and shy smiles. Not that he minded- he could read the boy like an open book.
He could almost hear his voice in the whisper of his features and body language. Where others waited in doubtful expectation for something to come from Will’s throat, Mike had no interest in it. He could read the message in the lines of Will’s furrowed brow and the nervous, darting aversion of his gaze.
OR:
Mike’s memories of when Will had selective mutism as a child, and how his communication with him through other means is proved useful, when Will gets possessed by Vecna in their final plan.

Summary
After Eleven’s death, Mike Wheeler has no language for what he feels toward Will Byers. He follows him to New York and expresses it the only way he knows how: by holding on too tight.
Same roof. Same college. Same bed. Same ritual every night. Will keeps asking what they are. Mike keeps not answering.
It takes a paint-stained studio and a fight neither of them walks away from intact for the world to finally go quiet. Will stops hearing that day.
Two thousand miles apart, they are both learning a new alphabet. In Seattle, Will is learning to stop punishing himself for being alive. In New York, Mike is learning, for the first time in his life, how to use his hands gently.

Summary
Tendou Satori has learned to live with the fact that he doesn't have what anyone would consider an attractive face. This wouldn't normally bother him, except now detail-oriented, perfect Ushijima is analyzing his face and producing every overly apparent, crooked flaw in precise graphite strokes.
Ushijima has learned to live with the fact that he doesn't have the ability to read faces, attractive or not. But there's something about Tendou's that he can't put his finger on. He simply cannot get the drawing right.

Summary
Ushijima wants to be a good friend, but try as he might he simply cannot keep up with Tendou's rapidly changing mood, the series of completely incorrect assumptions he's made, and a frustratingly vague desire to make this day "date-like." Plus, they've already been standing out here arguing in the middle of this rainstorm long enough for both of them to be soaked and freezing. What's he supposed to do, read Tendou's mind?
