Klaus was pretty used to dying at this point. Usually from overdoses, but other things happened sometimes, as well. Like tonight, when he got shot.
What he wasn't used to was his siblings being there to witness his deaths. Ben was the only one who'd known, after all.
Maybe Klaus should've warned them beforehand that he didn't tend to stay dead.

He can die and be free. Free from all this pain and suffering. He was never scared of death after all. It was like a grand prize. His family wouldn't even care when he died after all. They would even be happy about it. Maybe Ben would be sad but he would get over it in no time.
Yeah, he thought, I can be free after this. I don't need to suffer anymore.
Then he let it go. He relaxed his body and let death take him
