“Lute?” She heard a door creak open and a soft, gentle voice call for her. She whipped her head around to glare at whoever was daring to speak to her.
A seraphim angel. One she couldn’t help but despise. Her immediate reaction was to dispel her, but she gritted her teeth and controlled herself, just to see what she wanted.
“Emily.” Her voice was terse.
Emily stepped closer. A big mistake on her part. Lute flared her wings in passive aggression. Emily flinched.
“Lute, you’re still bleeding out.” She said worriedly. “Please let me help you.”
“I would rather rot than let you help me.” Lute snarled, still looking over her shoulder with her back hunched. “I would rather rot than have my suffering quelled.”
