Andrealphus knew damn well how he wandered into the disgusting, plebeian bar for the poor on a Thursday night looking for someone who could follow through with his little scheme. He also knew that a few fruity tequila drinks sometimes made his robe fall off, one could say, even if the man he took home was beneath his station.

Standing before them in the radiance of the setting sun was an owl unlike Blitz had ever seen before. Tall, with grey feathers and bright red eyes, he wore a ruffled white shift with poofy, rich bitch sleeves. Around his thin waist was a satchel that sat against his left thigh and a rolled leather container on the other that Blitz guessed either held a telescope or, more hopefully, a treasure map.
The very thought of a treasure map made his tail twitch.
“What do ya want?” Blitz asked.
The owl’s voice was soft but determined. “I’m looking to hire a ship.”
