Summary
Yuji’s hands started shaking again.
“You died.” he said, the room stayed quiet. Gojo didn’t move, Shoko blinked slowly and Yuji kept talking before either of them could interrupt. “Shinjuku,” he continued, words rushing out faster now. “December 24th. Sukuna he-.” His voice broke.
He clenched his fists harder. “He got through infinity…” Yuji finished and silence stretched across the room.

Yuji hadn’t said it, he didn’t need to, but Gojo could see it in the spaces between his words, in the things he chose not to explain, in the way he avoided certain details like saying them out loud would make them real again, how much it really affected him.
And still, he stood there, trying to fix everything on his own like it was his responsibility, like it had always been for a long time.
Gojo’s jaw tightened slightly. Yeah… no. That future Yuji came from, the one where Gojo died in Shinjuku and left everything behind, that wasn’t happening again

“You can hate me all you want,” the stranger says, making Megumi nearly throw his pencil with how hard he flinches. “Just don’t hate him.”
He’s trying to calm his racing heart when he follows the stranger’s gaze to Itadori. Hate? Hate him? He looks back, confused.
“I don’t hate you,” Megumi says.
“But you don’t know what to think of me yet, right?” He smiles when Megumi stays silent. “I get it. I’m… like an old friend you haven’t seen in a long time. Maybe I’ll become familiar again. Maybe you can tell me if I’m still me.”
There’s so much wrong with that that Megumi doesn’t know where to start.

Summary
“And who are you, again?”
“Fushiguro Megumi, special inspector,” the man said sharply. “Do you realize how stupid you all were? You could have been killed. Do what you’re told next time.”
“People were killed,” Yuji said and gestured to the swaying ceiling above them. “If anyone else was going to die, it would have been while we were stuck waiting for you to get here. What are you even inspecting for?”
“...Pests.”
“...Pests?”
“Yes.”

Or, in a world where Itadori Wasuke never died, Yuji has been working as a firefighter, blissfully unaware of curses. He takes care of his grandfather, helps out around the neighborhood, and saves cats from trees in a quiet corner of Sendai.
Megumi, on the other hand, is tired of the jujutsu world. When he comes across a young man too good to be true, he falls for him. And Megumi is perfectly happy keeping Yuji in the dark about jujutsu to preserve their small slice of normalcy.
However, Kenjaku never planned on letting Sukuna's Vessel live in peace forever. Soon enough, his plans would come together, and no meddling sorcerers were going to stand between him and his tools.
