The man barks out a laugh. A wave of familiarity washes over Eddie, so strong it makes him sway on his feet. He looks the guy up and down again, trying to place where he knows him from.
“I’m Eddie,” he offers.
The man grabs a box of cereal seemingly at random. Eddie frowns— it looks like pure sugar in a box. He puts on a voice, a passable impression of Perry Mason: “Richard W. Tozier, Esquire. At your service, Eddie Spaghetti.”
I know him, Eddie’s soul is screaming. I know him, I can’t let him go. Not again.

Richie and Eddie run into each other in their early thirties. They don't realize it at the time, but this ends up changing everything.

“Richie’s weird with his snacks but Eddie can gobble them up whenever he so pleases,” Stan taunts as he keeps his eyes to the board, trying to figure out his word. “Hey guys, you think I can spell ‘Favorite’ with my letters?”
Eddie whips his head to Stan. “What?”
Ben plays along, leaning in to look at Stan’s letters. “Hmm. Well you don’t have a ‘T’. How about ‘favored’?”
Eddie frowns.
“You could always just write ‘Eddie’,” Mike grins too. “It’s a synonym.”
“Yeah but that’s a name,” Stan says faux-serious.
“What about ‘favoritism’?” Ben teases with a smile.
“Ha ha ha,” Eddie mocks. “You’re all very funny. Richie just lets me use his things because I’ve been living with him. He knows I know what I can and can’t have. Unlike you menaces.”
“And what can’t you have, exactly?” Stan teases. The others chuckle.
Eddie deadpans. “Richie doesn’t have a favorite.”

He bit his lips to hide the giggle fighting to slip out, and it was a hard task to do with how comical Atsumu looked, eyebrows scrunched together while his mouth gaped wide. Then, as if a magical light bulb on top of his head was flicked on, his face brightened at the realization. “I can help you get back home, Atsumu.”

Eddie Kaspbrak escaped the sewers and survived the fight for his life in the hospital. Now was just the crucial part of waiting for him to wake up. The events of the past couple of days have taken their toll on Richie and as he sits at Eddie's bedside, he thinks about the past and all they have been through together. He thinks about another situation that had him almost as afraid as he had been mere hours ago.
He doesn't know what the future holds for them, but he can only hope that Eddie will still want to be his friend after his feelings are revealed.
