Daisy (or Jax, as she had previously been known) groaned as the implications of what she had just done finally set in. She told Pomni that she was dead! Well, she told Pomni that Jax was dead and, while that is technically true, she doubts that Pomni will appreciate the technicality when Daisy finally comes clean about how she's transfem, still working out the mechanics, not ready to tell anyone and about how she just panicked and told Pomni that Jax was dead and that Daisy was his sister.

Reki had just stared for a moment. Then, he shouted Langa’s name and made a jerky, half-step toward them-

“Shh,” Joe said, not knowing if that would actually affect her volume or not. He hoped so. “Could you…when Kaoru wakes up, could you tell him something for me?”
“Yes.”
“Then tell him, ‘I think you’re beautiful.’”
“Time to wake up, Master. This is your fifth alarm.”
Cherry squinched his face irritably and heaved an annoyed sigh. “I’m up, Carla, I’m up.”
“Good morning, Master. I think you’re beautiful.”
A bit stunned and more than a little confused, Cherry decided that it was just too damn early and he’d heard wrong. “Sorry, Carla—could you repeat that?”

The day Ainosuke stops being their friend, he walks out on them and Kaoru is still hopeful he’ll return. Kojiro knows better though. Ainosuke is leaving them behind, on to bigger and better things, tired of them. And he was warned about this, about letting himself get attached to vampires, and he’d ignored every red flag along the way.
He’d make a joke about werewolves being colorblind, but the raging pain of shattered pack bond in his chest sort of of distracts him from any attempt at humor.Or: the one where Joe's a werewolf, and that doesn't help how much he's in love with one Cherry Blossom.

The first time Kaoru coughed petals was on his thirteenth birthday.
His parents had forgotten what day it was for the third year in a row, and getting a B in his Japanese written exam only worsened his mood, and then Kojiro was held back during lunch because his strictest teacher caught him doodling skateboard designs in his margins.
So, when it got to the end of the day, Kaoru was exhausted and just wanted to go home.
And he told Kojiro as much as they hopped on their boards, he summed up his day because he hadn’t even seen the boy since that morning and he was convinced he was going clinically insane. But Kojiro had laughed, nudged his shoulder half-heartedly, and said, “I guess I’ll eat the cake by myself then.”
And he’d bailed.
But Kojiro had been there to pick him right back up again.

Kaoru has hanahaki over his best friend. So what does he do? Ignore it, obviously.
