Summary
Eddie wonders what that must be like - dying and staying dead. He’s never had much luck with it himself. He pretends, as one must, that he’s afraid of death, but really he’s more afraid that he’ll never actually get to properly die.
So when Venom tells him about the codex, when he says that one of them has to die, Eddie knows he’s going to make sure it’s the right one.

“Whatcha, uh… whatcha got there, pal?” Standing in his usual spot in the xenonite tunnel beside the pilot’s seat, Rocky seemed to be wearing.. a sweater. It had sleeves, and covered most of his carapace, except for the top and bottoms, and seemed to be made of a densely-woven fabric.
“Rocky wearing Eridian clothing.”
“Yeah, I see that. Why?”
Rocky’s carapace shifts slightly, his front claws clicking together.
“Rocky… need to get used to wearing clothing again, statement. Common on Erid.”

The burning sensation in my lungs is worse now, spreading up into my sinuses and all the way down into my lungs. My breaths are speeding up, coming shallower, and there’s more resistance. It feels like my lungs are being squeezed, like I have to fight against them to get the air in. I double over, bracing my arms on a table. I taste something metallic as a steady stream of thin mucus makes its way up my throat into my mouth. I swallow it down but I’m gasping for air, panting like I just ran a marathon.
