Summary

This Minho comes from long-sleeves in torrid weather, from sidelong glances to burn the shape of Jisung’s profile into perfect recollection. Heart-shaped smiles framing that one crooked tooth. Hours spent lazing on the bench and strolling down the busy city streets of food markets. Bruises from hands that should heal them, fear flickering in pretty doe eyes at the thought of going back home, and a bed that feels too big now. Summary
Seonghwa always knew that his life was going to be hard. It was as plain for him to see as his own hands in front of him, but he wanted to try to live his life looking towards the sun.
His uncle made that hard. Whenever the stress of life became too much for him, his uncle would berate Seonghwa over it, blaming it on his father for bringing his mother into their lives, on him being too much like his mother. It always came back to his mother.
Because Seonghwa’s mother was a harpy.
When he was 12, his uncle had a debt to a pirate captain from a job that went very poorly because of him.
And Seonghwa was how he settled that debt. Seonghwa, to spare his uncle.

Minho has just finished watching Jisung paint a sky blue feature wall in their bedroom when he blurts out, “Okay, I’m ready to get married. You can propose to me now.”
The simultaneous clatter of the paint roller on the ground and Jisung’s mouth gaping open sends Minho into a fit of laughter. A splatter of paint on Jisung’s cheek and the oversized paint shirt hanging limp off his frame only make Minho fonder. He rises from the stool he’s been sitting on to watch Jisung paint (re: watch him workout his arms) and crosses the room to him, waiting for Jisung to regain his speech whilst wiping the paint from his face.
“I- what- now?” Jisung finally sputters, gazing up at Minho with terrified eyes.
“No, not now, pabo. You have to get me a ring first.”
“I’m proposing to you?” Jisung asks, incredulous. Even in his alarmed state, his arms still snake around Minho’s waist to keep him close. “You’re the hyung!”

Hongjoong hates it when people refer to him by a nickname. The casual ‘Hongjoongie’ was fine, but not ‘Joongie’ or ‘Hongie’. And especially not those corny ones like ‘honey’ or ‘sweetie’. Ew.
The only person that can get away with it is his mother, and hers was just ‘Joongie’. Not even ‘my baby’ or ‘cutie-patootie’.
Just like he despises being given nicknames, he also doesn’t like using pet names when addressing others. It’s just a personal preference, nothing against the other person.
However, all that rang true until he met Park Seonghwa.

Summary
Hongjoong watched as Seonghwa took his nail polish off, dyed his hair back to black, packed clothes that weren’t too fashionable and would cover up the few tattoos he had, and removed all the earrings from his ears.
It all broke Hongjoong’s heart. Seonghwa was doing all of this because he'd finally agreed to go home to see his parents for the holidays, caving to their guilting pleas of It’s been years, Seonghwa. Don’t you love us? We miss you. Be a good son and come home to see your parents. Seonghwa had been on edge for weeks, nervous and anxious over going to visit them.
As he watched Seonghwa change even his phone wallpaper to some generic pre-installed one, the one he’d had for years of a cute selfie of the two of them from their first date now gone, Hongjoong had asked, “Don’t you think you’re overreacting a little?”
To which Seonghwa had just stared at him and solemnly replied, “You don’t know them, Joong. You don’t know what they’re like.”

From the prominent cheekbones to the full lips to the immaculately groomed eyebrows, the Man (for this was no ordinary man, this was a Man) was quite possibly the most attractive human Hongjoong had ever laid eyes upon. And when he noticed Hongjoong standing there gawking, his mouth stretched into a blinding, 1000-kilowatt smile and he raised his hand into a wave. Hongjoong thought he just about might pass out and join old Maggie in the clouds.
For some inexplicable reason, this irritated him beyond belief.
Or: Hongjoong's new neighbour is a gift sent from heaven and Hongjoong's little gay heart can't handle it.
