Ilya frowns. “Did Dykstra call me stupid?”
Shane laughs. “No, Ilya. It’s like– when someone is so in love that they act a bit foolish with their… lover,” he explains, putting a special emphasis on the word lover, enjoying the way his boyfriend’s eyes crinkle with joy.
He kisses his forehead for a split second, just because he can.
“Ah,” Ilya finally understands, cheeks flaming red despite Russians not blushing. “I, how you say, contain multiples. Shane tells me always.”
Everyone laughs, not in a mean or unkind way, and Shane is sure that he’s about to burst at the seams with all the love that is flowing through his veins.
“It’s multitudes, Ilya. I contain multitudes,” he gently corrects.
A very stressed Shane decides that Ilya deserves to be celebrated. So he comes out to the Ottawa Centaurs on his own and throws his boyfriend a surprise birthday party with them all.

Ilya presses his lips together. “So we will really be in Ottawa for my birthday, then?”
“Yeah, looks like it,” Shane says. “Don’t worry, it’ll still be fun.”
“Oh, I am sure,” Ilya drawls. “Ottawa is nothing if not fun.”

Ilya is about to exchange Boston for the suburbs of Ottawa, and everything is fine. He’s definitely looking forward to moving to a city that’s notorious for being boring as hell. He’s also coping spectacularly well with how oppressively quiet his new surroundings are because it’s not like his most anxious thoughts amplify in the silence. Oh, and Shane wants to come over and celebrate Ilya’s birthday with him in his half-furnished house? That’s fine, too.
He’ll be fine. Everything will be fine.
(Or, Ilya moves to Ottawa. Shane welcomes him home.)

Cliff knew that this probably violated the promise he made to Roz when he had given him a spare key. It was for emergencies only. He hoped he kept his key privileges after tonight.
Because throwing a surprise pizza/movie night in Roz’s own home for when he returned to Boston from his father’s funeral in Russia? That probably didn’t count as an emergency.
But fuck it. Roz was his best friend, and while his father may have sucked, it’s still awful losing a parent. Roz should have his friends here, waiting to support him when he gets back.
The only thing that could make this better was if Cliff knew who Jane was, so she could be here for him too.
