Summary
“Your butchery of the English language astounds me.” Damian says, sliding into the seat.
“Second language.” Dick replies. “Can’t be blamed for my mistakes.”
Damian sniffs pretentiously as Dick starts up the car and gets them on the road, the reprimand already on his tongue. “Don’t be foolish, Richard, you have mastered a number of languages and are perfectly capable of speaking them as they were intended to be spoken, as I do. Making excuses as such is undignified.”
Dick hums, amused. “I think there was actually a compliment in there. You’re getting soft, baby bat.”
Damian’s scandalized face is exactly as Dick pictured it. “I am not!”
…Bruce died. Bruce came back to life. The months between those moments don’t stop meaning something even if it would be easier if they did.
It’s up to Dick to reassemble his life and find a way to be a brother to the boy he considers his kid. It shouldn’t be a problem (except that it is) and where the hell is his sweater??

The knife pushes thin along Dick’s carotid artery, cupping the indent between neck and jawline—forcing him to angle his chin. The metal is warm, pulled with execution speed from under Damian’s pillow.
“Okay,” Dick says quietly, tracking the intricacies of his own heartbeat—counting the space between breaths. “Guess I did need a shave.”
(With faltering steps, Dick and Damian become Batman and Robin.)

Summary
Crossing his ankles propped on the table, jostling his helmet next to him, his mouth quirked up. “At least I’m not you, who sees the idiot as some sort of pseudo father figure.”
Dick choked on his coffee, and Damian sputtered and took a step back. “What?!”
“You heard me.” He thumbed in the direction of Dick, who clumsily tried to mop up the hot liquid staining his shirt and scalding his skin with a crusty dishrag that smelled like mildew. “You see him in a way you don’t your own dear old dad.”
Damian’s cheeks darkened in a deep flush that even reddened the tips of his ears. “You don’t know what you’re talking about!”

In tandem, but slightly to his back... his Robin a perfect match to his Batman. Pride welled in his chest even as he knew he'd have to speak to him again about reigning himself in. Because if nothing else, Damian was fiercely loyal to Dick. He had been ever since the first night they'd become like this, the first night they'd traveled Gotham as Batman and Robin. And he wouldn't have traded a single person in the whole world to run the shadows of each night in this city. No amount of experience or skill or anything else could possibly replace Damian... and in that moment, he finally understood why Bruce had always been so protective of him.

Summary
It starts with Dick, and is only worsened by the death of the girl Damian was supposed to save. He is falling behind in school, he's been benched, and his family is unrelenting in their insistence - concern - that something is wrong. Damian is failing and there is only one way to fix this. He just needs to find the man that killed the girl. The one that he let get away. He can fix this. He'll prove that he isn't broken.
But he's not the only one hunting this criminal.
It would have gone perfectly. If the Executioner didn't get him first.
