“And I want something from you, Denji.”
This was it. Denji clasped his hands together, lowering his head onto the table, arms raised slightly above him. Yoshida was going to steal his heart; that’s all the people around him wanted, after all. Not Denji, Chainsaw Man. Maybe pieces of himself were still Reze and Makima’s.
“I want a second date.”
The blond looked up, bewilderment crossed his facial features, contorting them into something that brought the smirk back to Yoshida.
“Not a date,” he grumbled, unclasping his hands, finally finding a decent position on the chair with a pout. Like a petulant toddler. “But fine, if you want one so bad. I guess ‘s better than bein’ cooped up at home.”

“This why you ran out of the gym so fast?”
“Wha–? No!”
“Who? Mitaka? Yuko?” Yoshida’s hand slides off Denji’s knee, creeping further up his thigh. “Me?”
Denji swallows around sand before asking, “W-What’re you going on abou—”
Yoshida tightens his grip on Denji’s thigh, and it shakes Denji up so much he jerks in place, heart hammering against his ribcage.
“Did I do this to you, Denji?” he whispers, even closer now.

“Hey, Indou!” someone from midfield shouted, laughing between breaths. “Careful—Tsujinaka’s takin’ pictures of ya like he’s in love or somethin’!”
“Shut up,” Hikaru snapped, voice sharp. “Yoshiki ain’t gay.”
“Damn bro, calm down,” someone muttered. “Didn’t know you were his bodyguard.”
“Maybe he’s got you whipped,” another chimed. They erupted in laughter again.
Hikaru kicked the ball hard. Too hard. It smacked into the fence with a metallic clang that made a few heads jerk up.
“Knock that shit off,” Hikaru barked, shoving past a teammate. “I said he ain’t gay. Don’t fucking talk about him like that.”
One wrong reaction shatters everything between them, leaving Hikaru wrestling with a fear he can’t name and Yoshiki trying to pretend he doesn't exist. What follows is a slow, aching unravel: avoidance, regret, the steady realization that losing Yoshiki hurts more than anything Hikaru was trying to protect himself from.
A short, four-chapter "what if" story about bad timing, teenage feelings, and the clumsy way boys learn what it means to be truly honest with each other and themselves.
