They try.

Getou Suguru begins his life as a Jujutsu sorcerer with; the most obnoxious person to ever exist, a professional shadow puppeteer, and an aspiring doctor who is a nicotine addict.
Ieiri Shoko starts her highschool year alongside; a loud boy, a boy with earrings, and a pretty boy.
Zenin Naoki enters highschool with the hopes of spending a blue spring alongside: a manchild who didn't get slapped enough as a child, a boy who thinks his earrings are cool, and a girl too chill and permissive for her own good.
It's fine. Everything's gonna turn out fine.

Nobara and Yuji look at each other wide eyed.
In unison they cry out, “We should get sensei a girlfriend!” Yuji leaps off the bed and throws his hands up with a cheer and Nobara claps her hands with glee.
“It’s perfect! Gojo sensei doesn’t have the time to get a girlfriend himself so we’ll do it for him!”
“It’s the perfect gift! We’re now on operation get sensei a girlfriend!”
“Boyfriend.”
“Huh.” Nobara and Yuji pause their celebration and turn to look at Megumi.
“Boyfriend.” Megumi says blandly. “Gojo’s gay.”
“Operation get sensei a boyfriend then!!”
Or Geto Suguru delays the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons by a year. This changes everything.

“Ah, before I forget.” Suguru pulled a small, blue and silver box adorned with tiny white dragons and a bow from the pocket of his uniform pants. “Satoru asked me to give you this.”
You managed not to startle at the mention of the Gojo heir and how coincidental it was that your older cousin happened to say his name just as you were thinking about him. You accepted the box with unconcealed interest.
“I’m just as curious as you are,” Suguru commented, watching you look over the impressive detailing of the box. “Satoru has no trouble receiving gifts but he’s certainly not known for giving gifts.”
You pretended not to notice the unspoken question you heard in that statement. You carefully opened the box under the heavy gaze of your cousin and couldn’t help the way your breath hitched. Blood rushed to your head and your inner baby python let out a ferocious hiss of delight.
Suguru’s hand shot forward and carefully gripped the wrist of your dominant hand to keep you from slamming the lid back on the box. “Is that …” His voice was low and controlled. “… a tongue?”
