Summary
All you ever did was follow the path that was laid out before you. There was no obstacle you could not conquer. No challenge too great. Nothing that you could not throw yourself at and come out on top of. You were perfect, and they held you to those standards of perfection, which you surpassed at every turn.
You did everything right. And in the end, you were rewarded for it with the world in your hands.
The regeneration of nervous tissue is a process which can take weeks-to-years to unfold, and injury sustained by the nervous system is, more often than not, irreversible.

Summary
The girl wasn't afraid but she had not been given permission to speak so she said nothing. The man tilted his head to the side, smile fading to a confused pout.
"Aren't you going to scream?" he asked.
The girl said and did nothing.
His hand tightened around her throat, strong enough it cut off her breath. She did nothing, even when her vision began to blacken as her lungs struggled and twisted from the lack of air. After a moment his hand relaxed and she took a breath, but made no attempt to push away from him or fight his grip.
"That's strange," the man said, "Are you really not afraid?"
She blinked but did not respond. His hand loosened around her throat until he was pressing his bloody index finger against her neck, sensing her pulse. It was as steady and calm as it had ever been since that day she became empty and hollow.
"Well, aren't you interesting. I think I'll keep you," the man decided.

Every breath was a pained hiss. His white gloves were soaked with blood as well; she doubted that all of it was his.
She tried to speak, but her throat seized and she choked up blood. She swallowed, ignoring the lancing pain, and tried again, a hoarse choke through twisted mouth, through pointed teeth.
"Hubert. Did you come to die beside me?" How fitting.

Pure, kind, and noble. No words fit Allura, Princess of Arus, better. Or so she believes until she strikes a seemingly harmless bargain with the Prince Imperial of Doom that will force her from the comforts of complacency into the dark heart of the Drule court and put those three words to the test.
Uses elements from DotU and the Devil's Due comics. An eventual Lotor/Allura pairing, but with Keith/Allura friendly bits too. While the relationship between Allura and Lotor is a big part of the story, be advised that much of the focus goes to their individual development rather than jumping straight into anything romantic or sexual. Even when the mood does get there, past actions will never allow for a traditional happily ever after. This is not a darkfic, however, the plot does go to some dark, difficult places at times.Bookmarked by YsaX64
