“This hot tub has not been well maintained,” Rozanov complained as they stood on the deck, staring at the built-in hot tub, big enough to fit 8 people.
“So, you can replace it,” Shane replied patiently.
“I will be too busy to replace the hot tub. Then I will have a long day, and I will decide to have a soak in my rancid hot tub, and then I will catch diphtheria and die.” Rozanov looked at Shane, accusatory. “You want me to die?”
Shane looked down. The hot tub looked no more or less rancid than any other hot tub. “I don’t think you can get diphtheria from a dirty hot tub.”
“You are doctor now?” Rozanov asked, and Shane stayed silent.
Shane Hollander is a realtor who works with the Ottawa Centaurs to find properties for new players.

Summary
Shane grabbed a teaspoon from the drawer next to him and dipped it into the sauce, turning to face Ilya with his hand cupped underneath it to catch the drips. As he moved around the island, Ilya’s pulse picked up again and his brain smashed together a montage of nights like this from some imagined future. Shane cooking for him in their kitchen, offering his creation up for Ilya’s judgement. Maybe there would be a nice playlist on. Maybe the pasta would be actual pasta, not chickpea. Maybe they’d be cooking for more than just the two of them. Christ.
Balancing on the cusp of a something new, Ilya boards a flight to Shane's cottage for two weeks.

And then, in a moment of magic or insanity, Henry brings his free hand up to Alex’s face and wipes away something from the corner of his mouth. “I hope to God that’s not drool,” Alex thinks, but he must have said it out loud, because Henry chuckles.
“It was a bit of custard,” Henry replies and then leans in, pressing the softest kiss to the corner of Alex’s mouth.
“Mmm,” Henry pulls back, leaving Alex frozen in shock. "It tastes even sweeter like this,” Henry says and steps back and around the table, slipping free from Alex’s hold. "Friday night at seven is ok with you?” Henry asks over his shoulder, and all Alex can do is nod.
Or: Taste tests and food dates end up leading to something else. 😏
