“You’re the only one who didn’t try to tell me I was crazy after seeing something like that. So what if it happens again and all I have is a pen?”
Annabeth frowned. “This is a golden drachma,” she told him. “If you ever need to talk to me, you can create a rainbow, toss it in and pray to Iris to let you call me.”
“Pray to…” He huffed in annoyance. “Don’t you have a phone or something?”

Merlin stiffens again, looking as though he’s braced for ridicule, and Arthur knows immediately that he can’t rescind the words. “Why would you want that?”
“Come on, Merlin. I can’t exactly have my servant being better at something than I am, now can I?”
Or,
Three months after lifting the ban on magic, Arthur catches Morgana and Merlin practicing a spell together. After initially struggling to come to terms with, he asks to be taught a spell as a gesture of acceptance. He is shocked to learn that magic is hard, and Merlin is actually quite good at it. Who would have guessed?

“Are you okay?” Nancy asks, shifting a little closer so their arms are pressed together in one continuous line of warmth. Mike flinches a little, like he’s surprised at the contact, but he doesn’t pull away, doesn’t retreat any further into himself where she can’t ever hope to follow.
Instead of answering her question, Mike asks, “Do you— are you ever angry?” Before she can answer, he continues, voice low and sort of strained, “I mean, like, really fucking angry. Whether you want to be or not.”
"About what?"
And Mike, still not looking at her, says, “Everything.”

“I can see just fine,” Will snaps. He doesn’t even want to have this conversation with Mike in the first place. If he did, it would’ve been a long time ago. “Why do you even care?”
“Why do I—” Mike splutters. “Because I care, Will! I care about you.”
Honestly — what was Mike expecting? That the past month didn’t happen? That they aren’t being weird again? The end of a literal apocalypse did more harm to their friendship than good, apparently, and it’s not something either of them can ignore.
