Summary
Bai Qian Qian in all her tens of thousands of years of life have never been accused of being deliberate. Accusations of her extreme impulsiveness have dogged her every step and every decision. When she stole away with Shifu’s lifeless body in the middle of the night, she planned for the barest minimum and hoped for the best, struck by sudden inspiration and desperation. She knew what she had to do, just not how to go about it. That took a little more time and effort. And a lot of trust.

"And they, well. They brought in an omega specialist?”
“Specialist?” Ilya asked, his tone wary. The word sounded uncomfortable in his mouth, so Shane tried to fill in the gaps.
“A doctor. For omegas.”
That threw Rozanov off for a second. “But you are not omega?”
Shane scrunched up his face, creasing the skin on his forehead and around his eyes. Taking a deep breath, he dropped the first of his two bombs. “No, Rozanov. I am. I’m an omega.”
He heard the Russian hum on the other side, considering this. “Makes sense. Is why you are so pretty. And why you have such nice ass.”
Shane’s ears burned. “Shut up, stop talking about my ass.”
“But I can still talk about how pretty you are, yes?”

“You are planning to rob me or what?” He hears Rozanov call, and he can’t help but smile slightly even as he rolls his eyes, closing the door to the linen closet and feeling strangely lighter than when he opened it, reassured that he’s just trying to read into a blank page, that today doesn’t mean anything more than Rozanov doesn’t mind him being around, which is strangely flattering.
“I don’t know,” he calls back. “Don’t Russians like diamonds and fur and stuff? Where should I start looking if I want to know what my options are?”
He hears Rozanov laugh, and it makes him smile.
When he joins him in the living room once more, Rozanov tugs him down to lean against him again. Shane goes easier this time, settling into it, knowing it doesn’t mean anything other than the fact that he just happens to be the closest warm body, the person on Rozanov’s roster who filled today’s slot.
