According to the intel Ratio's team gathered, it was hidden behind a series of trials, meant to test the bond between two people. Sure, Aventurine couldn't say for certain whether Ratio even liked him, but they could've never made it as far as they have as business partners without some degree of trust and cooperation, right?
By the time he realizes how utterly twisted the Curio is, it's already too late to back out. He and Ratio are trapped, at the mercy of the long-dead maniac who created this room, and it's going to take every ounce of strength they have to survive.

Summary
A cult dedicated to Tayzzyronth discovers Aventurine's plight as the last of his species, and decide to take it upon themselves to help him 'repopulate'. The AU contains two timelines:
As Death Minute in Decimal: Aventurine escapes the cult's clutches, but not before they've drugged him with an aphrodisiac. The side effects of the drug are so potent that he risks severe damage to his health if he doesn't find release. Ratio is the only one able to help.
Scattering Sparks of Thought Energy: Aventurine is unable to escape the cult in time, and they have their way with him before he's rescued. The aftermath leaves him changed, and the IPC all but abandons him as a result. Ratio takes him in, but Aventurine's altered mental state has a negative effect on them both.

Ratio looked over to Jade's side to see a man with blond hair, bejeweled eyes, and that same branding on his neck he had been unable to forget for the last Amber Era staring straight at him.
Even the man looked surprised for a second before his expression melted into a shit-eating grin that gave a brief glimpse at his sharpened canines.
You have got to be kidding him.
“Oh? Do you two already know each other, doctor? Well then that makes the process much easier,” Jade spoke up, "I would like to introduce you to the Stoneheart’s newest member, Aventurine. You two will be working together for quite some time, so get comfortable."

Ever since dying and reviving himself through sheer will, Ratio has known immortal life to be long and painfully monotonous. That is, until he keeps encountering the same blond man across entire lifetimes, unchanged, irritatingly charming, and very much alive.
When he finally meets that mysterious man again, now a Stoneheart at the IPC and his assigned partner, Ratio is dragged into a friendship, a feeding arrangement, and countless new variables he never experienced before in five Amber Eras of existence.
