Summary
Ray only for a moment thinks of a life without Henry. The sun keeps shining and people keep laughing while Ray Manchester keeps standing there. Interchangeably and permanently stuck.
____
I always loved Henry Danger but couldn't help but wonder what it'd be like as a more serious show. So I decided to work with that idea and create One-Shots.
Here's a series of Henry Hart One-Shots! Includes fatherly Ray, whump, angst, and hurt-comfort.
Although I have made the One-Shots and incidents more serious than they are in the show. So that being said this may include some triggering topics or content. Please feel free to request.

Summary
In truth, Ray Manchester didn't hate many things in his life. As egotistical as he tried to act he wasn't even sure he'd been graced with the ability to hate.
Yet hearing the very kid that had somehow managed to worm a place into his guarded heart have such low self-talk was something that he deeply despised. To hear Henry outwardly voice such self-deprecating thoughts was genuinely painful in a way that he'd never felt before. It hit him with a brunt force deeper than any physical pain.
Only to absolutely shatter his heart to mere shreds at what Henry said next.
''I'm nothing.'' The crestfallen voice mumbled seemingly in realization before falling entirely silent.

Summary
''See?'' Henry said with a habitual amount of cheek. ''I told you. You could kill me, and he wouldn't even blink. You've got it all wrong.''
Ray mulled over the horrific words. Longing to know if Henry had caught on and was just saying that to ensure the act. Or if the kid truly believed it and all his words to be true.
The thought was heartbreaking enough that it nearly had him breaking the act - calling himself out on his own bluff in an effort to reassure Henry.
''Is that true?'' Drex asked, eyeing Ray with a cruel smile.
Ray took a deep breath.
''He's right, Drex. He is just a sidekick and, honestly, a terrible one, as I said before he's nothing but an obligation.''

''Look Mom I know that this looks bad. Real bad and I'm sorry I didn't plan for this to happen. I swear I've just been so focused on work and making up schoolwork for absences that —''
''I don't wanna' hear it,''
''That I fell behind in school —''
''Henry,''
''But I —''
''But nothing! I've already said I don't want to hear it. You're always filled with excuses, aren't you?'' Kris impugned almost waiting for Henry to reply. He didn't. ''It's like you just can't stop. This isn't how I've raised you, Henry.''
''I know,'' Henry bemoaned. Face flushed in shame, eyes stinging with tears he refused to let fall.

Summary
''So?''
''So you have other things you should be able to spend it on, I wouldn't ask you to use it on me,'' Henry replies carefully.
''Money means nothing to me in comparison to you Henry and I need you to see that. Goddamnit I need for you to see that,'' Ray's eyes seem pained, voice sounding strained. ''But I also need you... need to work with me on this, level with me kid because I'm stuck here, and it's killing me. I can't sit here and watch as you starve anymore.''
