The Red Hair Pirates were different from other pirate crews in more ways than one. They had no Devil Fruit users on the crew. They were quite young compared to other crews. But the biggest difference was… they were all together. Together romantically. Realizing that they all loved each other had been a very natural development. It just felt natural. They had all always been close and that closeness grew into something else. A bond no one could break. That is... until those damned turtle neck sweaters.
This is a story about how the Red Hair Pirates overcame a horrible situation and started adopting a bunch of kids left and right.

Turing on my heels I quickly exit the large hosting hall, taking the fastest route to the bedroom I had occupied on and off in castle Kuraigana for the past three years. Slamming the door behind me, resting my back on the familiar cool wood I let my head fall forward. Red Hair Shanks, one of the Four Emperors, notorious playboy, is my soulmate.
Fuck, that throws a wrench in things.

My gaze darts around the room, assessing each reaction when he catches me. Gilded eyes halt my search, the intensity of his look forcing my immediate halt. It's knowing, assessing, like I am but a rabbit in the talons of an eagle.
Calm yourself marine, he is just a man. You are a marine in the center of naval power. It does not matter that you hold your title for reasons outside of physical prowess. Calm down.
It takes a moment, but I manage to tear my eyes away. Something churning in my stomach told me he knew I was more than just a fly on the wall. The weight sitting along my waistband suddenly felt all too real. A silent reminder of the defense I could have should I need it.

More specifically, the body of Uta.
She remembers fragments of the story, just enough to know Uta’s life ends badly, tangled up in tragedy, and the legacy of the Red-Haired Pirates led by Shanks.
There’s only one problem.
Her knowledge of the plot is incomplete, she never bothered watching the show after all.
But if she’s stuck living Uta’s life, then she might as well try to change the ending.
After all, how hard could rewriting fate in a pirate world really be?

Firelight gilded the sharp planes of Shanks’s face where he sprawled in an armchair, a half-drunk bottle of whiskey in one hand. Itachi stepped into the room, Sharingan spinning red.
“What do you want?” he drawled.
“You said you loved me.”
Shanks drank.
“Is it true?”
His gaze snapped to her. “Do you really think I’d lie about something like that?”
Then he looked away.
“Why are you wasting your energy on those eyes?”
“Because I want to understand love.”
His eyes found hers again, black now, unguarded.
“I don’t know if I can feel much anymore,” Itachi said. “I have loved before, but not like that.”
Silence stretched.
“What are you saying?”
“I may never feel love, but you’re the only one I trust. Why—why it is enough to make people stay?”
Shanks crossed the room in two strides. “Do you know what you’re asking me?”
“No.”
He cupped her face. “Then understand this: if I let myself have you, I won’t be able to let you go.”
She touched his wrist.
And then there was no room left for breath, or thought, or anything at all but Shanks.
