Tim squeezes his eyes shut, knowing what Joker is going to say. Knowing exactly what the evil madman is planning to do.

“I’m pissed because– oh, right.” Jason reached up and underneath the collar of the unzipped jacket, tugging off one of his primary scent blockers.
Tim, standing so close, was suddenly awash in the smell of Jason, rich and sweet and deep, mouthwatering in a way that made it almost impossible for Tim to resist reaching up and burying his face in the crook of his shoulder. Jason always smelled good, but God, it was like someone was caramelizing sugar, letting that incredible fragrance waft into the air, and–
Oh. Jason did smell better than normal, with extra sweet and musky notes, because–
“You dumped me straight into pre-heat,” Jason explained, “and then you left. I almost went into shock. Can I get a little concern for my health and well-being, here?”
“Holy shit,” Tim said, stunned. He had sort of thought that that didn't happen in real life. Well, he knew it was a possibility, but – no, he hadn't, because he'd always assumed it only applied to alpha and omega couples.
Tim had put Jason in heat.

The wind up here was strong and the cold felt like it was biting his skin even through his ratty old hoodie he’s had since he was maybe ten. Tim had considered dressing a little nice for tonight but he didn’t think it would matter when things were said and done.
Tonight was his birthday.
Tonight was his thirteenth birthday.
It was the third in a row his parents forgot or just couldn’t be there, ‘something came up, we can do something when we get back’. It’s what they said every time and then forgets all over again when they did come back. They hardly stayed long enough to remember their promise, never stayed longer than to pack up to just leave again.

Robin was yelling at him.
Robin was here, not on the other side of his camera lens. No, he was sitting on top of Tim and yelling at him after saving him. Robin had snatched Tim out of the air and stopped him.

Summary
Jason has put his life back together just in time to see the whole world fall apart. As the pandemic spreads across Gotham, he's struggling to maintain his new and fragile equilibrium in the face of two separate pressure points:

So, he suggests target practice as a way to blow off steam. He gets a little more information than he was looking for though, not that this does anything to deter him from his growing interest in the other.

Or: Jason just wanted to spend time with Tim and ends up learning things about a future that might never happen. He’s not angry about it though, not if it means that the other is opening up to him.

Summary
Tim Drake has not been the same since he returned to Gotham fully after completing his hit list. All of the bats notice it, see the way that he eyes the shadows as if they might attack, hear the snipe in his too sharp voice, know of just how withdrawn from them he had become. They all notice it, but none of them speak of it, not to Tim at least.
Jason never really had been too good at following rules though, not unspoken ones, and especially not ones made since his own return to Gotham a handful of years earlier. Curiosity is a powerful motivator after all.—-
Or: Tim is bitter and when Jason decides to press, he decides to express his emotions through sparring, something that Jason is all too happy to agree too.

Summary
When he gets to the alcove, plastic zip lock bags banging off his hip as he walks, Tim is already there. This is the perfect pace because half of it is in water that's shallow enough it probably only reaches to Jason's shins, and then the other half is sand. The whole thing is covered by a cave, keeping it cool. Jason won't sweat so much, won't feel too hot and get actually annoyed, and Tim will be able to stay wet — something Jason has learnt he has to be otherwise his scales will dry and peel off painfully.
He's lazily flapping his fins in the water, splashing himself, while leaning back on his elbows. The sight of him, stretched and relaxed on the beach, is borderline obscene. Tim is... longer (??) than he looks, tail stretching out for at least five feet. His torso gives him another two. Jason has never felt smaller than when he lies down beside him.
