personally, i see this as a bit of an exploration into codependency - and simultaneously, a passion project. both yusuf and rosalie are deeply important to me. it actually began as a fanfic - a crossover between nathan bateman from ex machina, but as a welder rather than a tech CEO, and he adopts cassie ainsworth when she was a baby. but i felt that my characters diverged quite a bit from their canon versions, so i decided to change their names and backgrounds. but nonetheless, this story has been fragmented in my mind for a while and i felt the need to put it into words. i haven't written a story out of passion since sixth grade, but i hope i managed to do yusuf and rosalie justice. and i hope their story can make you feel something.
