He hated feeling empty inside, he wanted nothing more than to be back in the horrible mess of a relationship that brought so much pain. Because through pain, there was love. Will drags his thumb up the edge of the knife’s handle. It would be so easy. One quick swipe and the blade would be buried in Hannibal’s abdomen, then all Will would have to do is tear him open to bleed in this little Italian street.
The locals would scream. Hannibal wouldn’t. He probably wouldn’t even make a sound. There would be no words between them as he lay dying at Will’s feet—they would have only eyes for each other until Hannibal’s closed and never opened again.
Maybe Will would go to prison, and maybe he wouldn’t. Jack would praise him. No one would blame Will, except for Will.
What will Will Graham become now?
What will he be?
He will be alone. That’s the devastating, inevitable truth. Once Hannibal Lecter is gone, no more than a bloodstain on the concrete, Will Graham will be alone.

Season 1/Slightly canon divergent AU:
Dr. Hannibal Lecter lacks nothing. He’s definitely not lonely, and he’s certainly not touch-starved. And he absolutely, positively doesn’t have a thing for Will Graham.
So when Abigail Hobbs is discharged from the Port Haven Psychiatric Facility, he suggests that she should move in with him - and so should Will. It’s only fair, as they’re both her legal guardians.
A domestic, fluffy little fic of touch-starved down bad Hannibal Lecter, oblivious Will Graham, and sassy Abigail Hobbs who conspires to get her gay dads together. Featuring Winston and Company.

Summary
After everything that has happened, Will still cannot accept his true nature. In his last attempt to do the right thing and prevent his becoming, he throws himself and Hannibal off the cliff. Will aimed both of them to die, but Hannibal had other plans.
This fic is essentially what I think would have happened if the series continued; based on Bryan Fuller's interviews, the canon, and my imagination. I don't think Will would easily give into his urges, thus the tension would continue. Angst with a happy ending!
